1Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me; For my soul taketh refuge in thee: Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I take refuge, Until these calamities be overpast.

1Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, because I seek protection in you. I will hide in the shadow of your wings until these troubles pass by.

2I will cry unto God Most High, Unto God that performeth all things for me.

2I cry out to God Most High, to the God who fulfills his purpose for me.

3He will send from heaven, and save me, Whenhe that would swallow me up reproacheth; [Selah God will send forth his lovingkindness and his truth.

3He sends help from heaven and saves me, putting to shame those who hunt me down. God sends out his loyal love and his faithfulness.

4My soul is among lions; I lie among them that are set on fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.

4I am surrounded by lions; I lie down among people who want to devour me. Their teeth are like spears and arrows, and their tongues are like sharp swords.

5Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let thy glory be above all the earth.

5Be honored, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be seen over all the earth.

6They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down: They have digged a pit before me; They are fallen into the midst thereof themselves. [Selah

6They set a trap for my feet, and I was overcome with worry. They dug a deep pit in my path, but they ended up falling into it themselves.

7My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing, yea, I will sing praises.

7My heart is confident, O God, my heart is confident. I will sing and make music to you.

8Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake right early.

8Wake up, my soul! Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn with my song.

9I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the peoples: I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

9I will thank you, Lord, in front of all the people; I will sing your praises among the nations.

10For thy lovingkindness is great unto the heavens, And thy truth unto the skies.

10Because your faithful love is as high as the heavens, and your loyalty reaches to the clouds.

11Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let thy glory be above all the earth.

11Be honored, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be seen over all the earth.
