1God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
1God is our place of safety and our strength; he is always ready to help us when we are in trouble.
2Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change, And though the mountains be shaken into the heart of the seas;
2Because of this, we will not be afraid, even if the earth changes and the mountains fall into the middle of the sea.
3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, Though the mountains tremble with the swelling thereof. [Selah
3We will not fear even if the ocean waters roar and foam, and the mountains shake because of the surging waves.
4There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.
4There is a river whose streams bring joy to the city of God, the holy place where the Most High lives.
5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God will help her, and that right early.
5God is in that city, so it will not be defeated; God will help it at the very first break of dawn.
6The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved: He uttered his voice, the earth melted.
6Nations are in an uproar and kingdoms fall; God speaks with his thunderous voice, and the earth melts away.
7Jehovah of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. [Selah
7The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8Come, behold the works of Jehovah, What desolations he hath made in the earth.
8Come and see what the LORD has done, the amazing things he has accomplished on the earth.
9He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; He burneth the chariots in the fire.
9He stops wars all over the world; he breaks the bow, snaps the spear in two, and burns the shields with fire.
