Psalms 36

1The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.

1Deep in my heart, I see how the wicked are driven by sin; they have no respect or fear of God at all.

2For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

2They tell themselves lies and think so highly of themselves that they cannot see their own sins or hate them.

3The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: He hath ceased to be wise and to do good.

3Everything they say is wicked and dishonest; they have stopped being wise and have given up on doing good.

4He deviseth iniquity upon his bed; He setteth himself in a way that is not good; He abhorreth not evil.

4They lie in bed planning ways to do wrong; they commit themselves to a path that isn't good and they do not reject evil.

5Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens; Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the skies.

5Your constant love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, and your faithfulness touches the clouds.

6Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Jehovah, thou preservest man and beast.

6Your justice is as solid as the mighty mountains, and your decisions are as deep as the ocean; O LORD, you take care of both people and animals.

7How precious is thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings.

7How priceless is your constant love, O God! All people find safety in the shadow of your wings.

8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; And thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

8They feast on the abundance of your house, and you let them drink from your river of delights.

9For with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light.

9For you are the fountain of life; it is by your light that we are able to see light.

10Oh continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee, And thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

10Keep showing your constant love to those who know you, and your fairness to those who are honest in their hearts.

11Let not the foot of pride come against me, And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.

11Do not let proud people trample me, and do not let the hands of the wicked push me away.

12There are the workers of iniquity fallen: They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.

12See how those who do evil have fallen! They are thrown down and are unable to get back up.
