1By David, in his changing his behaviour before Abimelech, and he driveth him away, and he goeth. I do bless Jehovah at all times, Continually His praise <FI>is<Fi> in my mouth.
1For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me.
1 I will be blessing the Lord at all times; his praise will be ever in my mouth.
2In Jehovah doth my soul boast herself, Hear do the humble and rejoice.
2Take hold of arms and shield: and rise up to help me.
2My soul will say great things of the Lord: the poor in spirit will have knowledge of it and be glad.
3Ascribe ye greatness to Jehovah with me, And we exalt His name together.
3Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me: say to my soul: I am thy salvation.
3O give praise to the Lord with me; let us be witnesses together of his great name.
4I sought Jehovah, and He answered me, And from all my fears did deliver me.
4Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise evil against me.
4I was searching for the Lord, and he gave ear to my voice, and made me free from all my fears.
5They looked expectingly unto Him, And they became bright, And their faces are not ashamed.
5Let them become as dust before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord straiten them.
5Let your eyes be turned to him and you will have light, and your faces will not be shamed.
6This poor <FI>one<Fi> called, and Jehovah heard, And from all his distresses saved him.
6Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
6This poor man's cry came before the Lord, and he gave him salvation from all his troubles.
7A messenger of Jehovah is encamping, Round about those who fear Him, And He armeth them.
7For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction: without cause they have upbraided my soul.
7The angel of the Lord is ever watching over those who have fear of him, to keep them safe.
8Taste ye and see that Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> good, O the happiness of the man who trusteth in Him.
8Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him: and let the net which he hath hidden catch him: and into that very snare let them fall.
8By experience you will see that the Lord is good; happy is the man who has faith in him.
9Fear Jehovah, ye His holy ones, For there is no lack to those fearing Him.
9But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation.
9Keep yourselves in the fear of the Lord, all you his saints; for those who do so will have no need of anything.
10Young lions have lacked and been hungry, And those seeking Jehovah lack not any good,
10All my bones shall say: Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him.
10The young lions are in need and have no food; but those who are looking to the Lord will have every good thing.
11Come ye, children, hearken to me, The fear of Jehovah I do teach you.
11Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.
11Come, children, give attention to me; I will be your teacher in the fear of the Lord.
12Who <FI>is<Fi> the man that is desiring life? Loving days to see good?
12They repaid me evil for good: to the depriving me of my soul.
12What man has a love of life, and a desire that his days may be increased so that he may see good?
13Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking deceit.
13But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.
13Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from words of deceit.
14Turn aside from evil and do good, Seek peace and pursue it.
14As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please: as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled.
14Be turned from evil, and do good; make a search for peace, desiring it with all your heart.
15The eyes of Jehovah <FI>are<Fi> unto the righteous, And His ears unto their cry.
15But they rejoiced against me, and came together: scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not.
15The eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their cry.
16(The face of Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> on doers of evil, To cut off from earth their memorial.)
16They were separated, and repented not: they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn: they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
16The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to take away the memory of them from the earth.
17They cried, and Jehovah heard, And from all their distresses delivered them.
17Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou my soul from their malice: my only one from the lions.
17The cry of the upright comes before the Lord, and he takes them out of all their troubles.
18Near <FI>is<Fi> Jehovah to the broken of heart, And the bruised of spirit He saveth.
18I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people.
18The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down.
19Many <FI>are<Fi> the evils of the righteous, Out of them all doth Jehovah deliver him.
19Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.
19Great are the troubles of the upright: but the Lord takes him safely out of them all.
20He is keeping all his bones, One of them hath not been broken.
20For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile.
20He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken.
21Evil doth put to death the wicked, And those hating the righteous are desolate.
21And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said: Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it.
21Evil will put an end to the sinner, and those who are haters of righteousness will come to destruction.
22Jehovah redeemeth the soul of His servants, And none trusting in Him are desolate!
22Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent: O Lord, depart not from me.
22The Lord will be the saviour of the souls of his servants, and no one who has faith in him will be put to shame.

26Let them blush: and be ashamed together, who rejoice at my evils. Let them be clothed with confusion and shame, who speak great things against me.
