Psalms 34

1I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

1I will praise Jehovah at all times; I will never stop speaking his praise.

2My soul shall make her boast in Jehovah: The meek shall hear thereof, and be glad.

2I will boast about Jehovah; let the humble hear it and be happy.

3Oh magnify Jehovah with me, And let us exalt his name together.

3Come, tell of Jehovah’s greatness with me; let us honor his name together.

4I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.

4I prayed to Jehovah, and he answered me; he rescued me from all my fears.

5They looked unto him, and were radiant; And their faces shall never be confounded.

5Those who look to him are full of joy; their faces will never be ashamed.

6This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.

7The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them.

7The angel of Jehovah camps around those who fear him, and he rescues them.

8Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him.

8Taste and see that Jehovah is good; the person who trusts in him is truly blessed.

9Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints; For there is no want to them that fear him.

9Fear Jehovah, you who are his holy people; for those who fear him have everything they need.

10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing.

10Even strong young lions get hungry and go weak, but those who seek Jehovah will not lack any good thing.

11Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.

11Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you how to fear Jehovah.

12What man is he that desireth life, And loveth many days, that he may see good?

12Does anyone here want to enjoy life and see many good days?

13Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile.

13Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.

14Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.

14Turn away from evil and do good; search for peace and work hard to maintain it.

15The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are open unto their cry.

15Jehovah watches over the righteous, and he listens to their cries for help.

16The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

16But Jehovah opposes those who do evil; he will wipe out any memory of them from the earth.

17The righteous cried, and Jehovah heard, And delivered them out of all their troubles.

17When the righteous cry out, Jehovah hears them and rescues them from all their troubles.

18Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

18Jehovah is close to those whose hearts are breaking; he saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all.

19A righteous person may have many troubles, but Jehovah delivers him from them all.

20He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken.

20He protects all his bones; not even one of them will be broken.

21Evil shall slay the wicked; And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.

21Evil will bring death to the wicked; those who hate the righteous will be punished.

22Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned.

22Jehovah rescues the lives of his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
