1For David, when he changed his countenance before Achimelech, who dismissed him, and he went his way.

1Sing, ye righteous, in Jehovah, For upright ones praise <FI>is<Fi> comely.

1Be glad in the Lord, O doers of righteousness; for praise is beautiful for the upright.

2I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall be always in my mouth.

2Give ye thanks to Jehovah with a harp, With psaltery of ten strings sing praise to Him,

2Give praise to the Lord on the corded instrument; make melody to him with instruments of music.

3In the Lord shall my soul be praised: let the meek hear and rejoice.

3Sing ye to Him a new song, Play skilfully with shouting.

3Make a new song to him; playing expertly with a loud noise.

4O magnify the Lord with me; and let us extol his name together.

4For upright <FI>is<Fi> the word of Jehovah, And all His work <FI>is<Fi> in faithfulness.

4For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his works are certain.

5I sought the Lord, and he heard me; and he delivered me from all my troubles.

5Loving righteousness and judgment, Of the kindness of Jehovah is the earth full.

5His delight is in righteousness and wisdom; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.

6Come ye to him and be enlightened: and your faces shall not be confounded.

6By the word of Jehovah The heavens have been made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.

6By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the army of heaven by the breath of his mouth.

7This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him: and saved him out of all his troubles.

7Gathering as a heap the waters of the sea, Putting in treasuries the depths.

7He makes the waters of the sea come together in a mass; he keeps the deep seas in store-houses.

8The angel of the Lord shall encamp round about them that fear him: and shall deliver them.

8Afraid of Jehovah are all the earth, Of Him are all the inhabitants of the world afraid.

8Let the earth be full of the fear of the Lord; let all the people of the world be in holy fear of him.

9O taste, and see that the Lord is sweet: blessed is the man that hopeth in him.

9For He hath said, and it is, He hath commanded, and it standeth.

9For he gave the word, and it was done; by his order it was fixed for ever.

10Fear the Lord, all ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

10Jehovah made void the counsel of nations, He disallowed the thoughts of the peoples.

10The Lord undoes the designs of the nations; he makes the thoughts of the peoples without effect.

11The rich have wanted, and have suffered hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not be deprived of any good.

11The counsel of Jehovah to the age standeth, The thoughts of His heart to all generations.

11The Lord's purpose is eternal, the designs of his heart go on through all the generations of man.

12Come, children, hearken to me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12O the happiness of the nation whose God <FI>is<Fi> Jehovah, Of the people He did choose, For an inheritance to Him.

12Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he has taken for his heritage.

13Who is the man that desireth life: who liveth to see good days?

13From the heavens hath Jehovah looked, He hath seen all the sons of men.

13The Lord is looking down from heaven; he sees all the sons of men;

14Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

14From the fixed place of His dwelling, He looked unto all inhabitants of the earth;

14From his house he keeps watch on all who are living on the earth;

15Turn away from evil and do good: seek after peace and pursue it.

15Who is forming their hearts together, Who is attending unto all their works.

15He makes all their hearts; their works are clear to him.

16The eyes of the Lord are upon the just: and his ears unto their prayers.

16The king is not saved by the multitude of a force. A mighty man is not delivered, By abundance of power.

16A king's salvation is not in the power of his army; a strong man does not get free by his great strength.

17But the countenance of the Lord is against them that do evil things: to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17A false thing <FI>is<Fi> the horse for safety, And by the abundance of his strength He doth not deliver.

17A horse is a false hope; his great power will not make any man free from danger.

18The just cried, and the Lord heard them: and delivered them out of all their troubles.

18Lo, the eye of Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> to those fearing Him, To those waiting for His kindness,

18See, the eye of the Lord is on those in whose hearts is the fear of him, on those whose hope is in his mercy;

19The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a contrite heart: and he will save the humble of spirit.

19To deliver from death their soul, And to keep them alive in famine.

19To keep their souls from death; and to keep them living in time of need.

20Many are the afflictions of the just; but out of them all will the Lord deliver them.

20Our soul hath waited for Jehovah, Our help and our shield <FI>is<Fi> He,

20Our souls are waiting for the Lord; he is our help and our salvation.

21The Lord keepeth all their bones, not one of them shall be broken.

21For in Him doth our heart rejoice, For in His holy name we have trusted.

21For in him our hearts have joy; in his holy name is our hope.

22The death of the wicked is very evil: and they that hate the just shall be guilty.

22Let Thy kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, As we have waited for Thee!

22Let your mercy be on us, O Lord, as we are waiting for you.

23The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall offend.
