1Unto the end, a psalm for David, in an ecstasy.

1 I will give you praise and honour, O Lord, because through you I have been lifted up; you have not given my haters cause to be glad over me.

1A Psalm. --A song of the dedication of the house of David. I exalt Thee, O Jehovah, For Thou hast drawn me up, and hast not let mine enemies rejoice over me.

2In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice.

2O Lord my God, I sent up my cry to you, and you have made me well.

2Jehovah my God, I have cried to Thee, And Thou dost heal me.

3Bow down thy ear to me: make haste to deliver me. Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me.

3O Lord, you have made my soul come again from the underworld: you have given me life and kept me from going down among the dead.

3Jehovah, Thou hast brought up from Sheol my soul, Thou hast kept me alive, From going down <FI>to<Fi> the pit.

4For thou art my strength and my refuge; and for thy name's sake thou wilt lead me, and nourish me.

4Make songs to the Lord, O you saints of his, and give praise to his holy name.

4Sing praise to Jehovah, ye His saints, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness,

5Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.

5For his wrath is only for a minute; in his grace there is life; weeping may be for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

5For--a moment <FI>is<Fi> in His anger, Life <FI>is<Fi> in His good-will, At even remaineth weeping, and at morn singing.

6Into thy hands I commend my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth.

6When things went well for me I said, I will never be moved.

6And I--I have said in mine ease, `I am not moved--to the age.

7Thou hast hated them that regard vanities, to no purpose. But I have hoped in the Lord:

7Lord, by your grace you have kept my mountain strong: when your face was turned from me I was troubled.

7O Jehovah, in Thy good pleasure, Thou hast caused strength to remain for my mountain,' Thou hast hidden Thy face--I have been troubled.

8I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy. For thou hast regarded my humility, thou hast saved my soul out of distresses.

8My voice went up to you, O Lord; I made my prayer to the Lord.

8Unto Thee, O Jehovah, I call, And unto Jehovah I make supplication.

9And thou hast not shut me up in the hands of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a spacious place.

9What profit is there in my blood if I go down into the underworld? will the dust give you praise, or be a witness to your help?

9`What gain <FI>is<Fi> in my blood? In my going down unto corruption? Doth dust thank Thee? doth it declare Thy truth?

10Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted: my eye is troubled with wrath, my soul, and my belly:

10Give ear to me, O Lord, and have mercy on me: Lord, be my helper.

10Hear, O Jehovah, and favour me, O Jehovah, be a helper to me.'

11For my life is wasted with grief: and my years in sighs. My strength is weakened through poverty and my bones are disturbed.

11By you my sorrow is turned into dancing; you have taken away my clothing of grief, and given me robes of joy;

11Thou hast turned my mourning to dancing for me, Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, And girdest me <FI>with<Fi> joy.

12I am become a reproach among all my enemies, and very much to my neighbours; and a fear to my acquaintances. They that saw me without fled from me.

12So that my glory may make songs of praise to you and not be quiet. O Lord my God, I will give you praise for ever.

12So that honour doth praise Thee, and is not silent, O Jehovah, my God, to the age I thank Thee!

13I am forgotten as one dead from the heart. I am become as a vessel that is destroyed.
