1By David. Judge me, O Jehovah, for I in mine integrity have walked, And in Jehovah I have trusted, I slide not.
1 O Lord, be my judge, for my behaviour has been upright: I have put my faith in the Lord, I am not in danger of slipping.
1The psalm of David before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?
2Try me, O Jehovah, and prove me, Purified <FI>are<Fi> my reins and my heart.
2Put me in the scales, O Lord, so that I may be tested; let the fire make clean my thoughts and my heart.
2Whilst the wicked draw near against me, to eat my flesh. My enemies that trouble me, have themselves been weakened, and have fallen.
3For Thy kindness <FI>is<Fi> before mine eyes, And I have walked habitually in Thy truth.
3For your mercy is before my eyes; and I have gone in the way of your good faith.
3If armies in camp should stand together against me, my heart shall not fear. If a battle should rise up against me, in this will I be confident.
4I have not sat with vain men, And with dissemblers I enter not.
4I have not taken my seat with foolish persons, and I do not go with false men.
4One thing I have asked of the Lord, this will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. That I may see the delight of the Lord, and may visit his temple.
5I have hated the assembly of evil doers, And with the wicked I sit not.
5I have been a hater of the band of wrongdoers, and I will not be seated among sinners.
5For he hath hidden me in his tabernacle; in the day of evils, he hath protected me in the secret place of his tabernacle.
6I wash in innocency my hands, And I compass Thine altar, O Jehovah.
6I will make my hands clean from sin; so will I go round your altar, O Lord;
6He hath exalted me upon a rock: and now he hath lifted up my head above my enemies. I have gone round, and have offered up in his tabernacle a sacrifice of jubilation: I will sing, and recite a psalm to the Lord.
7To sound with a voice of confession, And to recount all Thy wonders.
7That I may give out the voice of praise, and make public all the wonders which you have done.
7Hear, O Lord, my voice, with which I have cried to thee: have mercy on me and hear me.
8Jehovah, I have loved the habitation of Thy house, And the place of the tabernacle of Thine honour.
8Lord, your house has been dear to me, and the resting-place of your glory.
8My heart hath said to thee: My face hath sought thee: thy face, O Lord, will I still seek.
9Do not gather with sinners my soul, And with men of blood my life,
9Let not my soul be numbered among sinners, or my life among men of blood;
9Turn not away thy face from me; decline not in thy wrath from thy servant. Be thou my helper, forsake me not; do not thou despise me, O God my Saviour.
10In whose hand <FI>is<Fi> a wicked device, And their right hand <FI>is<Fi> full of bribes.
10In whose hands are evil designs, and whose right hands take money for judging falsely.
10For my father and my mother have left me: but the Lord hath taken me up.
11And I, in mine integrity I walk, Redeem me, and favour me.
11But as for me, I will go on in my upright ways: be my saviour, and have mercy on me.
11Set me, O Lord, a law in thy way, and guide me in the right path, because of my enemies.
12My foot hath stood in uprightness, In assemblies I bless Jehovah!
12I have a safe resting-place for my feet; I will give praise to the Lord in the meetings of the people.
12Deliver me not over to the will of them that trouble me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me; and iniquity hath lied to itself.
