1Unto the end. A psalm for David.
1To the Overseer. --A Psalm of David. Jehovah doth answer thee, In a day of adversity, The name of the God of Jacob doth set thee on high,
1 Jehovah answer thee in the day of trouble; the name of theGod of Jacob protect thee;
2In thy strength, O Lord, the king shall joy; and in thy salvation he shall rejoice exceedingly.
2He doth send thy help from the sanctuary, And from Zion doth support thee,
2 May he send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;
3Thou hast given him his heart's desire: and hast not withholden from him the will of his lips.
3He doth remember all thy presents, And thy burnt-offering doth reduce to ashes. Selah.
3 Remember all thine oblations, and accept thy burnt-offering; Selah.
4For thou hast prevented him with blessings of sweetness: thou hast set on his head a crown of precious stones.
4He doth give to thee according to thy heart, And all thy counsel doth fulfil.
4 Grant thee according to thy heart, and fulfil all thy counsels.
5He asked life of thee: and thou hast given him length of days for ever and ever.
5We sing of thy salvation, And in the name of our God set up a banner. Jehovah doth fulfil all thy requests.
5 We will triumph in thy salvation, and in the name of ourGod will we set up our banners. Jehovah fulfil all thy petitions!
6His glory is great in thy salvation: glory and great beauty shalt thou lay upon him.
6Now I have known That Jehovah hath saved His anointed, He answereth him from His holy heavens, With the saving might of His right hand.
6 Now know I that Jehovah saveth his anointed; he answereth him from the heavens of his holiness, with the saving strength of his right hand.
7For thou shalt give him to be a blessing for ever and ever: thou shalt make him joyful in gladness with thy countenance.
7Some of chariots, and some of horses, And we of the name of Jehovah our God Make mention.
7 Some make mention of chariots, and some of horses, but we of the name of Jehovah ourGod.
8For the king hopeth in the Lord: and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
8They--they have bowed and have fallen, And we have risen and station ourselves upright.
8 They are bowed down and fallen; but we are risen and stand upright.
9Let thy hand be found by all thy enemies: let thy right hand find out all them that hate thee.
9O Jehovah, save the king, He doth answer us in the day we call!
9 Save, Jehovah! Let the king answer us in the day we call.
10Thou shalt make them as an oven of fire, in the time of thy anger: the Lord shall trouble them in his wrath, and fire shall devour them.
