1 The heavens declare the glory ofGod; and the expanse sheweth the work of his hands.

1To the Overseer. --A Psalm of David. The heavens <FI>are<Fi> recounting the honour of God, And the work of His hands The expanse <FI>is<Fi> declaring.

1 The heavens are sounding the glory of God; the arch of the sky makes clear the work of his hands.

2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

2Day to day uttereth speech, And night to night sheweth knowledge.

2Day after day it sends out its word, and night after night it gives knowledge.

3 There is no speech and there are no words, yet their voice is heard.

3There is no speech, and there are no words. Their voice hath not been heard.

4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun,

5 And he is as a bridegroom going forth from his chamber; he rejoiceth as a strong man to run the race.

5Who is like a newly married man coming from his bride-tent, and is glad like a strong runner starting on his way.

6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

6From the end of the heavens <FI>is<Fi> his going out, And his revolution <FI>is<Fi> unto their ends, And nothing is hid from his heat.

6His going out is from the end of the heaven, and his circle to the ends of it; there is nothing which is not open to his heat.

7 The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple;

7The law of Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of Jehovah <FI>are<Fi> stedfast, Making wise the simple,

7The law of the Lord is good, giving new life to the soul: the witness of the Lord is certain, giving wisdom to the foolish.

8 The precepts of Jehovah are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of Jehovah is pure, enlightening the eyes;

8The precepts of Jehovah <FI>are<Fi> upright, Rejoicing the heart, The command of Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> pure, enlightening the eyes,

8The orders of the Lord are right, making glad the heart: the rule of the Lord is holy, giving light to the eyes.

9 The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of Jehovah are truth, they are righteous altogether:

9The fear of Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> clean, standing to the age, The judgments of Jehovah <FI>are<Fi> true, They have been righteous--together.

9The fear of the Lord is clean, and has no end; the decisions of the Lord are true and full of righteousness.

10 They are more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey and the dropping of the honeycomb.

10They are more desirable than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey, Even liquid honey of the comb.

10More to be desired are they than gold, even than much shining gold; sweeter than the dropping honey.

11 Moreover, by them is thy servant enlightened; in keeping them there is great reward.

11Also--Thy servant is warned by them, `In keeping them <FI>is<Fi> a great reward.'

11By them is your servant made conscious of danger, and in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who understandeth [his] errors? Purify me from secret [faults].

12Errors! who doth understand? From hidden ones declare me innocent,

12Who has full knowledge of his errors? make me clean from secret evil.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be perfect, and I shall be innocent from great transgression.

13Also--from presumptuous ones keep back Thy servant, Let them not rule over me, Then am I perfect, And declared innocent of much transgression,

13Keep your servant back from sins of pride; let them not have rule over me: then will I be upright and free from great sin.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer.

14Let the sayings of my mouth, And the meditation of my heart, Be for a pleasing thing before Thee, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer!

14Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing in your eyes, O Lord, my strength and my salvation.
