1Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I take refuge.
1A Secret Treasure of David. Preserve me, O God, for I did trust in Thee.
2O my soul, thou hast said unto Jehovah, Thou art my Lord: I have no good beyond thee.
2Thou hast said to Jehovah, `My Lord Thou <FI>art<Fi> ;' My good <FI>is<Fi> not for thine own sake;
3As for the saints that are in the earth, They are the excellent in whom is all my delight.
3For the holy ones who <FI>are<Fi> in the land, And the honourable, all my delight <FI>is<Fi> in them.
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that give gifts for another god: Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, Nor take their names upon my lips.
4Multiplied are their griefs, <FI>Who<Fi> have hastened backward; I pour not out their libations of blood, Nor do I take up their names on my lips.
5Jehovah is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot.
5Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> the portion of my share, and of my cup, Thou--Thou dost uphold my lot.
6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly heritage.
6Lines have fallen to me in pleasant places, Yea, a beauteous inheritance <FI>is<Fi> for me.
7I will bless Jehovah, who hath given me counsel; Yea, my heart instructeth me in the night seasons.
7I bless Jehovah who hath counselled me; Also <FI>in<Fi> the nights my reins instruct me.
8I have set Jehovah always before me: Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
8I did place Jehovah before me continually, Because--at my right hand I am not moved.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: My flesh also shall dwell in safety.
9Therefore hath my heart been glad, And my honour doth rejoice, Also my flesh dwelleth confidently:
