1Praise ye Jehovah; For it is good to sing praises unto our God; For it is pleasant, andpraise is comely.

1Praise the LORD! It is good to sing praises to our God; it is pleasant and right to praise him.

2Jehovah doth build up Jerusalem; He gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

2The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he brings back the scattered people of Israel.

3He healeth the broken in heart, And bindeth up their wounds.

4He counteth the number of the stars; He calleth them all by their names.

5Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.

8Who covereth the heavens with clouds, Who prepareth rain for the earth, Who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

8He covers the sky with clouds, prepares rain for the earth, and makes grass grow on the hills.

9He giveth to the beast his food, Andto the young ravens which cry.

9He provides food for the animals and for the young ravens when they cry out.

10He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.

10He does not care about the strength of a horse, and he is not impressed by the strong legs of a runner.

11Jehovah taketh pleasure in them that fear him, In those that hope in his lovingkindness.

11The LORD is pleased with those who respect him and those who put their hope in his faithful love.

12Praise Jehovah, O Jerusalem; Praise thy God, O Zion.

13For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; He hath blessed thy children within thee.

13For he makes the bars of your city gates strong and blesses the people living inside you.

14He maketh peace in thy borders; He filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.

14He brings peace to your borders and feeds you with the very best wheat.

15He sendeth out his commandment upon earth; His word runneth very swiftly.

15He sends his command to the earth; his word travels very quickly.

16He giveth snow like wool; He scattereth the hoar-frost like ashes.

16He spreads snow like white wool and scatters frost like ashes.

17He casteth forth his ice like morsels: Who can stand before his cold?

17He hurls down hail like pebbles; no one can survive his freezing cold.

18He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: He causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

18He sends out his word and melts the ice; he makes his winds blow, and the waters flow again.

19He showeth his word unto Jacob, His statutes and his ordinances unto Israel.

19He reveals his word to the descendants of Jacob, and his laws and rules to Israel.

20He hath not dealt so with any nation; And as for his ordinances, they have not known them. Praise ye Jehovah.

20He has not done this for any other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD!
