Psalms 146

1Praise ye Jehovah. Praise Jehovah, O my soul.

1Praise the LORD! My soul, give praise to the LORD.

2While I live will I praise Jehovah: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.

2I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.

3Put not your trust in princes, Nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

3Do not put your trust in powerful leaders or in any human being, because they cannot save you.

4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; In that very day his thoughts perish.

4When they die, they return to the ground; on that very day, all their plans come to an end.

5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in Jehovah his God:

5How happy is the person whose helper is the God of Jacob, and whose hope is in the LORD their God.

6Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that in them is; Who keepeth truth for ever;

6He is the one who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them; he remains faithful forever.

7Who executeth justice for the oppressed; Who giveth food to the hungry. Jehovah looseth the prisoners;

7He gives justice to those who are treated unfairly and provides food for the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free.

8Jehovah openeth the eyes of the blind; Jehovah raiseth up them that are bowed down; Jehovah loveth the righteous;

8The LORD gives sight to the blind; the LORD lifts up those who are weighed down by life; the LORD loves those who do what is right.

9Jehovah preserveth the sojourners; He upholdeth the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.

9The LORD protects the foreigners living among us; he cares for orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.

10Jehovah will reign for ever, Thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye Jehovah.

10The LORD will rule as king forever! Your God, O Zion, will reign through every generation. Praise the LORD!
