1Hear my prayer, O Jehovah; give ear to my supplications: In thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

1Lord, hear my prayer and listen to my cry for help; because you are faithful and righteous, please answer me.

2And enter not into judgment with thy servant; For in thy sight no man living is righteous.

2Do not bring your servant into court for judgment, because no one living is innocent in your sight.

3For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; He hath smitten my life down to the ground: He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead.

3My enemy has hunted me down and crushed my life into the dirt; he has forced me to live in darkness like those who died long ago.

4Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is desolate.

4So my spirit is growing faint within me; my heart is filled with dread.

5I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy doings; I muse on the work of thy hands.

5I remember the days of the past; I think about everything you have done and reflect on the work of your hands.

6I spread forth my hands unto thee: My soulthirstethafter thee, as a weary land. [Selah

6I stretch out my hands to you in prayer; I thirst for you like a parched and weary land.

7Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth: Hide not thy face from me, Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.

7Answer me quickly, Lord, for my spirit is failing; do not turn away from me, or I will be like those who go down to the grave.

8Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee.

8Let me hear about your faithful love every morning, because I put my trust in you; show me the path I should follow, because I give my life to you.

9Deliver me, O Jehovah, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

9Rescue me from my enemies, Lord; I run to you to hide me.

10Teach me to do thy will; For thou art my God: Thy Spirit is good; Lead me in the land of uprightness.

10Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; let your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

11Quicken me, O Jehovah, for thy name’s sake: In thy righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.

11Preserve my life, Lord, for the sake of your reputation; in your righteousness, bring me out of this trouble.

12And in thy lovingkindness cut off mine enemies, And destroy all them that afflict my soul; For I am thy servant.

12In your unfailing love, silence my enemies and destroy everyone who harasses me, because I am your servant.
