1 Those whose hope is in the Lord are like the mountain of Zion, which may not be moved, but keeps its place for ever.

1A gradual canticle. When the Lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted.

1A Song of the Ascents. Those trusting in Jehovah <FI>are<Fi> as Mount Zion, It is not moved--to the age it abideth.

2As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people, from this time and for ever.

2Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them.

2Jerusalem! mountains <FI>are<Fi> round about her, And Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> round about His people, From henceforth even unto the age.

3For the rod of sinners will not be resting on the heritage of the upright; so that the upright may not put out their hands to evil.

3The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.

3For the rod of wickedness resteth not On the lot of the righteous, That the righteous put not forth on iniquity their hands.

4Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in heart.

4Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.

4Do good, O Jehovah, to the good, And to the upright in their hearts.

5But as for such as are turned out of the straight way, the Lord will take them away with the workers of evil. Let peace be on Israel.

5They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

5As to those turning <FI>to<Fi> their crooked ways, Jehovah causeth them to go with workers of iniquity. Peace on Israel!
