1Unto thee do I lift up mine eyes, O thou that sittest in the heavens.

1I lift my eyes up to you, the one who sits on your throne in heaven.

2Behold, as the eyes of servantslook unto the hand of their master, As the eyes of a maid unto the hand of her mistress; So our eyeslook unto Jehovah our God, Until he have mercy upon us.

2Just as servants watch the hand of their master, and a female servant looks to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until he shows us mercy.

3Have mercy upon us, O Jehovah, have mercy upon us; For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

3Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy on us, because we have endured more than enough contempt.

4Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scoffing of those that are at ease, And with the contempt of the proud.

4We have had more than enough of the mockery from the arrogant and the contempt from the proud.
