Psalms 122

1I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go unto the house of Jehovah.

1I was happy when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."

2Our feet are standing Within thy gates, O Jerusalem,

2Now our feet are actually standing inside your gates, Jerusalem.

3Jerusalem, that art builded As a city that is compact together;

3Jerusalem is built like a city where everything is joined closely together.

4Whither the tribes go up, even the tribes of Jehovah, Foran ordinance for Israel, To give thanks unto the name of Jehovah.

4That is where the tribes go up—the tribes of the LORD—to give thanks to the name of the LORD, as he commanded Israel.

5For there are set thrones for judgment, The thrones of the house of David.

5For the thrones of judgment are located there, the thrones belonging to the family of David.

6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: They shall prosper that love thee.

6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure."

7Peace be within thy walls, And prosperity within thy palaces.

7May there be peace inside your walls and safety within your palaces.

8For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

8For the sake of my family and my friends, I will say, "May peace be with you."

9For the sake of the house of Jehovah our God I will seek thy good.

9For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will work for your good.
