1Praise ye Jehovah. Blessed is the man that feareth Jehovah, That delighteth greatly in his commandments.

1Praise the LORD! Happy is the person who honors the LORD and finds great joy in obeying his commands.

2His seed shall be mighty upon earth: The generation of the upright shall be blessed.

2His children will be powerful in the land; the descendants of honest people will be blessed.

3Wealth and riches are in his house; And his righteousness endureth for ever.

3His home is filled with wealth and riches, and his goodness lasts forever.

4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: He isgracious, and merciful, and righteous.

4Even in the dark, light shines for those who are decent; he is kind, compassionate, and does what is right.

5Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth; He shall maintain his cause in judgment.

5Good things happen to the person who is generous and lends to others, and who conducts his business fairly.

6For he shall never be moved; The righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.

6He will never be shaken; a good person will be remembered forever.

7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: His heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah.

7He does not fear bad news; his heart is steady because he trusts in the LORD.

8His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, Until he seehis desireupon his adversaries.

8His heart is secure and he isn't afraid; in the end, he will see his enemies defeated.

9He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy; His righteousness endureth for ever: His horn shall be exalted with honor.

9He gives freely to the poor; his goodness lasts forever, and he will be honored with strength and dignity.

10The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: The desire of the wicked shall perish.

10The wicked see this and get angry; they grit their teeth in frustration and waste away. The hopes of the wicked will come to nothing.
