1Oh give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known among the peoples his doings.
1Give glory to the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
1O give praise to the Lord; give honour to his name, talking of his doings among the peoples.
2Sing unto him, sing praises unto him; Talk ye of all his marvellous works.
2Who shall declare the powers of the Lord? who shall set forth all his praises?
2Let your voice be sounding in songs and melody; let all your thoughts be of the wonder of his works.
3Glory ye in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah.
3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do justice at all times.
3Have glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who are searching after the Lord be glad.
4Seek ye Jehovah and his strength; Seek his face evermore.
4Remember us, O Lord, in the favour of thy people: visit us with thy salvation.
4Let your search be for the Lord and for his strength; let your hearts ever be turned to him.
5Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth,
5That we may see the good of thy chosen, that we may rejoice in the joy of thy nation: that thou mayst be praised with thy inheritance.
5Keep in mind the great works which he has done; his wonders, and the decisions of his mouth;
6O ye seed of Abraham his servant, Ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
6We have sinned with our fathers: we have acted unjustly, we have wrought iniquity.
6O you seed of Abraham, his servant, you children of Jacob, his loved ones.
7He is Jehovah our God: His judgments are in all the earth.
7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt: they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies: And they provoked to wrath going up to the sea, even the Red Sea.
7He is the Lord our God: he is judge of all the earth.
8He hath remembered his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations,
8And he saved them for his own name's sake: that he might make his power known.
8He has kept his agreement in mind for ever, the word which he gave for a thousand generations;
9The covenantwhich he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac,
9And he rebuked the Red Sea and it was dried up: and he led them through the depths, as in a wilderness.
9The agreement which he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac;
10And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant,
10And he saved them from the hand of them that hated them: and he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
10And he gave it to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an eternal agreement;
11Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance;
11And the water covered them that afflicted them: there was not one of them left.
11Saying, To you will I give the land of Canaan, the measured line of your heritage:
12When they were but a few men in number, Yea, very few, and sojourners in it.
12And they believed his words: and they sang his praises.
12When they were still small in number, and strange in the land;
13And they went about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people.
13They had quickly done, they forgot his works: and they waited not for his counsel.
13When they went about from one nation to another, and from one kingdom to another people.
14He suffered no man to do them wrong; Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,
14And they coveted their desire in the desert: and they tempted God in the place without water.
14He would not let anyone do them wrong; he even kept back kings because of them,
15Saying, Touch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm.
15And he gave them their request: and sent fulness into their souls.
15Saying, Put not your hand on those who have been marked with my holy oil, and do my prophets no wrong.
16And he called for a famine upon the land; He brake the whole staff of bread.
16And they provoked Moses in the camp, Aaron the holy one of the Lord.
16And he took away all food from the land, so that the people were without bread.
17He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold for a servant:
17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan: and covered the congregation of Abiron.
17He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was given as a servant for a price:
18His feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid inchains ofiron,
18And a fire was kindled in their congregation: the flame burned the wicked.
18His feet were fixed in chains; his neck was put in iron bands;
19Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of Jehovah tried him.
19They made also a calf in Horeb: and they adored the graven thing.
19Till the time when his word came true; he was tested by the word of the Lord.
20The king sent and loosed him; Even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free.
20And they changed their glory into the likeness of a calf that eateth grass.
20The king sent men to take off his chains; even the ruler of the people, who let him go free.
21He made him lord of his house, And ruler of all his substance;
21They forgot God, who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt,
21He made him lord of his house, and ruler over everything he had;
22To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his elders wisdom.
22Wondrous works in the land of Cham: terrible things in the Red Sea.
22To give his chiefs teaching at his pleasure, and so that his law-givers might get wisdom from him.
23Israel also came into Egypt; And Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
23And he said that he would destroy them: had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach: To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
23Then Israel came into Egypt, and Jacob was living in the land of Ham.
24And he increased his people greatly, And made them stronger than their adversaries.
24And they set at nought the desirable land. They believed not his word,
24And his people were greatly increased, and became stronger than those who were against them.
25He turned their heart to hate his people, To deal subtly with his servants.
25And they murmured in their tents: they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord.
25Their hearts were turned to hate against his people, so that they made secret designs against them.
26He sent Moses his servant, AndAaron whom he had chosen.
26And he lifted up his hand over them: to overthrow them in the desert;
26He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the man of his selection.
27They set among them his signs, And wonders in the land of Ham.
27And to cast down their seed among the nations, and to scatter them in the countries.
27He let his signs be seen among the people, and his wonders in the land of Ham.
28He sent darkness, and made it dark; And they rebelled not against his words.
28They also were initiated to Beelphegor: and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
28He sent black night and made it dark; and they did not go against his word.
29He turned their waters into blood, And slew their fish.
29And they provoked him with their inventions: and destruction was multiplied among them.
29At his word their waters were turned to blood, and he sent death on all their fish.
30Their land swarmed with frogs In the chambers of their kings.
30Then Phinees stood up, and pacified him: and the slaughter ceased.
30Their land was full of frogs, even in the rooms of the king.
31He spake, and there came swarms of flies, And lice in all their borders.
31And it was reputed to him unto justice, to generation and generation for evermore.
31He gave the word, and there came the dog-fly, and insects over all the land.
32He gave them hail for rain, Andflaming fire in their land.
32They provoked him also at the waters of contradiction: and Moses was afflicted for their sakes:
32He gave them ice for rain, and flaming fire in their land.
33He smote their vines also and their fig-trees, And brake the trees of their borders.
33Because they exasperated his spirit. And he distinguished with his lips.
33He gave their vines and their fig-trees to destruction, and the trees of their land were broken down.
34He spake, and the locust came, And the grasshopper, and that without number,
34They did not destroy the nations of which the Lord spoke unto them.
34At his word the locusts came, and young locusts more than might be numbered,
35And did eat up every herb in their land, And did eat up the fruit of their ground.
35And they were mingled among the heathens, and learned their works:
35And put an end to all the plants of their land, taking all the fruit of the earth for food.
36He smote also all the first-born in their land, The chief of all their strength.
36And served their idols, and it became a stumblingblock to them.
36He put to death the first child of every family in the land, the first-fruits of their strength.
37And he brought them forth with silver and gold; And there was not one feeble person among his tribes.
37And they sacrificed their sons, and their daughters to devils.
37He took his people out with silver and gold: there was not one feeble person among them.
38Egypt was glad when they departed; For the fear of them had fallen upon them.
38And they shed innocent blood: the blood of their sons and of their daughters which they sacrificed to the idols of Chanaan. And the land was polluted with blood,
38Egypt was glad when they went; for the fear of them had come down on them.
39He spread a cloud for a covering, And fire to give light in the night.
39And was defiled with their works: and they went aside after their own inventions.
39A cloud was stretched over them for a cover; and he sent fire to give light in the night.
40They asked, and he brought quails, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
40And the Lord was exceedingly angry with his people: and he abhorred his inheritance.
40At the people's request he sent birds, and gave them the bread of heaven for food.
41He opened the rock, and waters gushed out; They ran in the dry places like a river.
41And he delivered them into the hands of the nations: and they that hated them had dominion over them.
41His hand made the rock open, and the waters came streaming out; they went down through the dry places like a river.
42For he remembered his holy word, AndAbraham his servant.
42And their enemies afflicted them: and they were humbled under their hands:
42For he kept in mind his holy word, and Abraham, his servant.
43And he brought forth his people with joy, Andhis chosen with singing.
43Many times did he deliver them. But they provoked him with their counsel: and they were brought low by their iniquities.
43And he took his people out with joy, the men of his selection with glad cries:
44And he gave them the lands of the nations; And they took the labor of the peoples in possession:
44And he saw when they were in tribulation: and he heard their prayer.
44And gave them the lands of the nations; and they took the work of the peoples for a heritage;
45That they might keep his statutes, And observe his laws. Praise ye Jehovah.
45And he was mindful of his covenant: and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
45So that they might keep his orders, and be true to his laws. Give praise to the Lord.
