Proverbs 29

1The man that with a stiff neck despiseth him that reproveth him, shall suddenly be destroyed: and health shall not follow him.

1He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

1A man often reproved, hardening the neck, Is suddenly broken, and there is no healing.

2When just men increase, the people shall rejoice: when the wicked shall bear rule, the people shall mourn.

2When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

2In the multiplying of the righteous the people rejoice, And in the ruling of the wicked the people sigh.

3A man that loveth wisdom, rejoiceth his father: but he that maintaineth harlots, shall squander away his substance.

3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

3A man loving wisdom rejoiceth his father, And a friend of harlots destroyeth wealth.

4A just king setteth up the land: a covetous man shall destroy it.

4The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

4A king by judgment establisheth a land, And one receiving gifts throweth it down.

5A man that speaketh to his friend with flattering and dissembling words, spreadeth a net for his feet.

5A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

5A man taking a portion above his neighbour, Spreadeth a net for his own steps.

6A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.

6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

7The just taketh notice of the cause of the poor: the wicked is void of knowledge.

8Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.

9If a wise man contend with a fool, whether he be angry, or laugh, he shall find no rest.

9A wise man is judged by the foolish man, And he hath been angry, And he hath laughed, and there is no rest.

10Bloodthirsty men hate the upright: but just men seek his soul.

11A fool uttereth all his mind: a wise man deferreth, and keepeth it till afterwards.

12A prince that gladly heareth lying words, hath all his servants wicked.

13The poor man and the creditor have met one another: the Lord is the enlightener of them both.

14The king that judgeth the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for ever.

15The rod and reproof give wisdom: but the child that is left to his own will, bringeth his mother to shame.

15A rod and reproof give wisdom, And a youth let away is shaming his mother.

16When the wicked are multiplied, crimes shall be multiplied: but the just shall see their downfall.

16In the multiplying of the wicked transgression multiplieth, And the righteous on their fall do look.

17Instruct thy son and he shall refresh thee, and shall give delight to thy soul.

17Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.

17Chastise thy son, and he giveth thee comfort, Yea, he giveth delights to thy soul.

18When prophecy shall fail, the people shall be scattered abroad: but he that keepeth the law, is blessed.

18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

18Without a Vision is a people made naked, And whoso is keeping the law, O his happiness!

19A slave will not be corrected by words: because he understandeth what thou sayest, and will not answer.

19A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.

19By words a servant is not instructed though he understand, And there is nothing answering.

20Hast thou seen a man hasty to speak? folly is rather to be looked for, than his amendment.

20Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

20Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words! More hope of a fool than of him.

21He that nourisheth his servant delicately from his childhood, afterwards shall find him stubborn.

21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.

21Whoso is bringing up his servant delicately, from youth, <FI>At<Fi> his latter end also he is continuator.

22A passionate man provoketh quarrels: and he that is easily stirred up to wrath, shall be more prone to sin.

22An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

23Humiliation followeth the proud: and glory shall uphold the humble of spirit.

23A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

24He that is partaker with a thief, hateth his own soul: he heareth one putting him to his oath, and discovereth not.

24Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.

24Whoso is sharing with a thief is hating his own soul, Execration he heareth, and telleth not.

25He that feareth man shall quickly fall: he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be set on high.

25The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

25Fear of man causeth a snare, And the confident in Jehovah is set on high.

26Many seek the face of the prince: but the judgment of every one cometh forth from the Lord.

26Many seek the ruler’s favour; but every man’s judgment cometh from the Lord.

26Many are seeking the face of a ruler, And from Jehovah <FI>is<Fi> the judgment of each.

27The just abhor a wicked man: and the wicked loathe them that are in the right way. The son that keepeth the word, shall be free from destruction.

27An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

27An abomination to the righteous <FI>is<Fi> the perverse man, And an abomination to the wicked <FI>is<Fi> the upright in the way!
