1Whoso is loving instruction, is loving knowledge, And whoso is hating reproof <FI>is<Fi> brutish.
1Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge; But he that hateth reproof is brutish.
1He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof, is foolish.
2The good bringeth forth favour from Jehovah, And the man of wicked devices He condemneth.
2A good man shall obtain favor of Jehovah; But a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
2He that is good, shall draw grace from the Lord: but he that trusteth in his own devices, doth wickedly.
3A man is not established by wickedness, And the root of the righteous is not moved.
3A man shall not be established by wickedness; But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
3Man shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved.
4A virtuous woman <FI>is<Fi> a crown to her husband, And as rottenness in his bones <FI>is<Fi> one causing shame.
4A worthy woman is the crown of her husband; But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
4A diligent woman is a crown to her husband: and she that doth things worthy of confusion, is as rottenness in his bones.
5The thoughts of the righteous <FI>are<Fi> justice, The counsels of the wicked--deceit.
5The thoughts of the righteous are just; Butthe counsels of the wicked are deceit.
5The thoughts of the just are judgments: and the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
6The words of the wicked <FI>are<Fi> : `Lay wait for blood,' And the mouth of the upright delivereth them.
6The words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood; But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
6The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood: the mouth of the just shall deliver them.
7Overthrow the wicked, and they are not, And the house of the righteous standeth.
7The wicked are overthrown, and are not; But the house of the righteous shall stand.
7Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm.
8According to his wisdom is a man praised, And the perverted of heart becometh despised.
8A man shall be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
8A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.
9Better <FI>is<Fi> the lightly esteemed who hath a servant, Than the self-honoured who lacketh bread.
9Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, Than he that honoreth himself, and lacketh bread.
9Better is the poor man that provideth for himself, than he that is glorious and wanteth bread.
10The righteous knoweth the life of his beast, And the mercies of the wicked <FI>are<Fi> cruel.
10A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
10The just regardeth the lives of his beasts: but the bowels of the wicked are cruel.
11Whoso is tilling the ground is satisfied <FI>with<Fi> bread, And whoso is pursuing vanities is lacking heart,
11He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain persons is void of understanding.
11He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that pursueth idleness is very foolish.
12The wicked hath desired the net of evil doers, And the root of the righteous giveth.
12The wicked desireth the net of evil men; But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
12He that is delighted in passing his time over wine, leaveth a reproach in his strong holds. The desire of the wicked is the fortification of evil men: but the root of the just shall prosper.
13In transgression of the lips <FI>is<Fi> the snare of the wicked, And the righteous goeth out from distress.
13In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; But the righteous shall come out of trouble.
13For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil man: but the just shall escape out of distress.
14From the fruit of the mouth <FI>is<Fi> one satisfied <FI>with<Fi> good, And the deed of man's hands returneth to him.
14A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; And the doings of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
14By the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things, and according to the works of his hands it shall be repaid him.
15The way of a fool <FI>is<Fi> right in his own eyes, And whoso is hearkening to counsel <FI>is<Fi> wise.
15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.
16The fool--in a day is his anger known, And the prudent is covering shame.
16A fool’s vexation is presently known; But a prudent man concealeth shame.
16A fool immediately sheweth his anger: but he that dissembleth injuries is wise.
17Whoso uttereth faithfulness declareth righteousness, And a false witness--deceit.
17He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness; But a false witness, deceit.
17He that speaketh that which he knoweth, sheweth forth justice: but he that lieth, is a deceitful witness.
18A rash speaker is like piercings of a sword, And the tongue of the wise is healing.
18There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.
18There is that promiseth, and is pricked as it were with a sword of conscience: but the tongue of the wise is health.
19The lip of truth is established for ever, And for a moment--a tongue of falsehood.
19The lip of truth shall be established for ever; But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
19The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue.
20Deceit <FI>is<Fi> in the heart of those devising evil, And to those counselling peace <FI>is<Fi> joy.
20Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; But to the counsellors of peace is joy.
20Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace.
21No iniquity is desired by the righteous, And the wicked have been full of evil.
21There shall no mischief happen to the righteous; But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
21Whatsoever shall befall the just man, shall not make him sad: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
22An abomination to Jehovah <FI>are<Fi> lying lips, And stedfast doers <FI>are<Fi> his delight.
22Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight.
22Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully, please him.
23A prudent man is concealing knowledge, And the heart of fools proclaimeth folly.
23A prudent man concealeth knowledge; But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
23A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly.
24The hand of the diligent ruleth, And slothfulness becometh tributary.
24The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.
24The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful shall be under tribute.
25Sorrow in the heart of a man boweth down, And a good word maketh him glad.
25Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.
25Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad.
26The righteous searcheth his companion, And the way of the wicked causeth them to err.
26The righteous is a guide to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked causeth them to err.
26He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.
