Proverbs 10

1A wise son maketh the father glad: but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother.

2Treasures of wickedness shall profit nothing: but justice shall deliver from death.

2Wealth which comes from sin is of no profit, but righteousness gives salvation from death.

3The Lord will not afflict the soul of the just with famine, and he will disappoint the deceitful practices of the wicked.

4The slothful hand hath wrought poverty: but the hand of the industrious getteth riches. He that trusteth to lies feedeth the winds: and the same runneth after birds, that fly away.

4He who is slow in his work becomes poor, but the hand of the ready worker gets in wealth.

4He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5He that gathereth in the harvest, is a wise son: but he that snorteth in the summer, is the son of confusion.

9He that walketh sincerely, walketh confidently: but he that perverteth his ways, shall be manifest.

10He that winketh with the eye, shall cause sorrow: and the foolish in lips shall be beaten.

19In the multitude of words there shall not want sin: but he that refraineth his lips, is most wise.

29The strength of the upright is the way of the Lord: and fear to them that work evil.

29The way of the Lord is a strong tower for the upright man, but destruction to the workers of evil.

29The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect [man], but destruction to the workers of iniquity.

30The just shall never be moved: but the wicked shall not dwell on the earth.

30The upright man will never be moved, but evil-doers will not have a safe resting-place in the land.

30The righteous [man] shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.

31The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom: the tongue of the perverse shall perish.

31The mouth of the upright man is budding with wisdom, but the twisted tongue will be cut off.

31The mouth of a righteous [man] putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32The lips of the just consider what is acceptable: and the mouth of the wicked uttereth perverse things.

32The lips of the upright man have knowledge of what is pleasing, but twisted are the mouths of evil-doers.

32The lips of a righteous [man] know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.
