1And the Lord said to Moses,
1And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
1And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2Say to the children of Israel, I am the Lord your God.
2`Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah your God;
2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am Jehovah yourGod.
3You may not do those things which were done in the land of Egypt where you were living; and you may not do those things which are done in the land of Canaan where I am taking you, or be guided in your behaviour by their rules.
3according to the work of the land of Egypt in which ye have dwelt ye do not, and according to the work of the land of Canaan whither I am bringing you in, ye do not, and in their statutes ye walk not.
3After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their customs.
4But you are to be guided by my decisions and keep my rules, and be guided by them: I am the Lord your God.
4`My judgments ye do, and My statutes ye keep, to walk in them; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah your God;
4Mine ordinances shall ye do and my statutes shall ye observe to walk therein: I am Jehovah yourGod.
5So keep my rules and my decisions, which, if a man does them, will be life to him: I am the Lord.
5and ye have kept My statutes and My judgments which man doth and liveth in them; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
5And ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, by which the man that doeth them shall live: I am Jehovah.
6You may not have sex connection with anyone who is a near relation: I am the Lord.
6`None of you unto any relation of his flesh doth draw near to uncover nakedness; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
6No one shall approach to any that is his near relation, to uncover his nakedness: I am Jehovah.
7You may not have sex relations with your father or your mother: she is your mother, you may not take her.
7`The nakedness of thy father and the nakedness of thy mother thou dost not uncover, she <FI>is<Fi> thy mother; thou dost not uncover her nakedness.
7The nakedness of thy father, and the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8And you may not have sex relations with your father's wife: she is your father's.
8`The nakedness of the wife of thy father thou dost not uncover; it <FI>is<Fi> the nakedness of thy father.
8The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.
9You may not take your sister, the daughter of your father or of your mother, wherever her birth took place, among you or in another country.
9`The nakedness of thy sister, daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, born at home or born without; thou dost not uncover their nakedness.
9The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, born at home, or born abroad — their nakedness shalt thou not uncover.
10You may not have sex relations with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter, for they are part of yourself;
10`The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter: thou dost not uncover their nakedness; for theirs <FI>is<Fi> thy nakedness.
10The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter — their nakedness shalt thou not uncover; for theirs is thy nakedness.
11Or your father's wife's daughter, the child of your father, for she is your sister.
11`The nakedness of a daughter of thy father's wife, begotten of thy father, she <FI>is<Fi> thy sister; thou dost not uncover her nakedness.
11The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father: she is thy sister: thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12You may not have sex connection with your father's sister, for she is your father's near relation.
12`The nakedness of a sister of thy father thou dost not uncover; she <FI>is<Fi> a relation of thy father.
12The nakedness of thy father's sister shalt thou not uncover: she is thy father's near relation.
13You may not have sex connection with your mother's sister, for she is your mother's near relation.
13`The nakedness of thy mother's sister thou dost not uncover; for she <FI>is<Fi> thy mother's relation.
13The nakedness of thy mother's sister shalt thou not uncover; for she is thy mother's near relation.
14You may not have sex relations with the wife of your father's brother, for she is of your family;
14`The nakedness of thy father's brother thou dost not uncover; unto his wife thou dost not draw near; she <FI>is<Fi> thine aunt.
14The nakedness of thy father's brother shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not approach his wife: she is thine aunt.
15Or with your daughter-in-law, for she is your son's wife, and you may not take her.
15`The nakedness of thy daughter-in-law thou dost not uncover; she <FI>is<Fi> thy son's wife; thou dost not uncover her nakedness.
15The nakedness of thy daughter-in-law shalt thou not uncover: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16You may not have sex relations with your brother's wife, for she is your brother's.
16`The nakedness of thy brother's wife thou dost not uncover; it <FI>is<Fi> thy brother's nakedness.
16The nakedness of thy brother's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy brother's nakedness.
17You may not take as wife a woman and her daughter, or her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter, for they are of one family: it is an act of shame.
17`The nakedness of a woman and her daughter thou dost not uncover; her son's daughter, and her daughter's daughter thou dost not take to uncover her nakedness; they <FI>are<Fi> her relations; it <FI>is<Fi> wickedness.
17The nakedness of a woman and her daughter shalt thou not uncover; thou shalt not take her son's daughter, nor her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness: they are her near relations: it is wickedness.
18And you may not take as wife a woman and at the same time her sister, to be in competition with her in her life-time.
18`And a woman unto another thou dost not take, to be an adversary, to uncover her nakedness beside her, in her life.
18And thou shalt not take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness beside her, during her life.
19And you may not go near a woman or have sex relations with her when she is unclean, at her regular time.
19`And unto a woman in the separation of her uncleanness thou dost not draw near to uncover her nakedness.
19And thou shalt not approach a woman in the separation of her uncleanness to uncover her nakedness.
20And you may not have sex relations with your neighbour's wife, making yourself unclean with her.
20`And unto the wife of thy fellow thou dost not give thy seed of copulation, for uncleanness with her.
20And thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to become unclean with her.
21And you may not make any of your children go through the fire as an offering to Molech, and you may not put shame on the name of your God: I am the Lord.
21`And of thy seed thou dost not give to pass over to the Molech; nor dost thou pollute the name of thy God; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
21And thou shalt not give of thy seed to let them pass through [the fire] to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thyGod: I am Jehovah.
22You may not have sex relations with men, as you do with women: it is a disgusting thing.
22`And with a male thou dost not lie as one lieth with a woman; abomination it <FI>is<Fi> .
22And thou shalt not lie with mankind as one lieth with a woman: it is an abomination.
23And you may not have sex relations with a beast, making yourself unclean with it; and a woman may not give herself to a beast: it is an unnatural act.
23`And with any beast thou dost not give thy copulation, for uncleanness with it; and a woman doth not stand before a beast to lie down with it; confusion it <FI>is<Fi> .
23And thou shalt lie with no beast to become unclean therewith; and a woman shall not stand before a beast to lie down with it: it is confusion.
24Do not make yourself unclean in any of these ways; for so have those nations whom I am driving out from before you made themselves unclean:
24`Ye are not defiled with all these, for with all these have the nations been defiled which I am sending away from before you;
24Make not yourselves unclean in any of these things; for in all these have the nations which I am casting out before you made themselves unclean.
25And the land itself has become unclean; so that I have sent on it the reward of its wrongdoing, and the land itself puts out those who are living in it.
25and the land is defiled, and I charge its iniquity upon it, and the land vomiteth out its inhabitants:
25And the land hath become unclean; and I visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land vomiteth out its inhabitants.
26So then keep my rules and my decisions, and do not do any of these disgusting things, those of you who are Israelites by birth, or any others who are living with you:
26and ye--ye have kept My statutes and My judgments, and do not <FI>any<Fi> of all these abominations, the native and the sojourner who is sojourning in your midst,
26But ye shall observe my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of all these abominations: the home-born, and the stranger that sojourneth among you;
27(For all these disgusting things were done by the men of this country who were there before you, and the land has been made unclean by them;)
27(for all these abominations have the men of the land done who <FI>are<Fi> before you, and the land is defiled),
27(for all these abominations have the men of the land done, who were before you, and the land hath been made unclean);
28So that the land may not put you out from it, when you make it unclean, as it put out the nations which were there before you.
28and the land doth not vomit you out in your defiling it, as it hath vomited out the nation which <FI>is<Fi> before you;
28that the land vomit you not out, when ye make it unclean, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.
29For all those who do any of these disgusting things will be cut off from among their people.
29for any one who doth <FI>any<Fi> of all these abominations--even the persons who are doing <FI>so<Fi> , have been cut off from the midst of their people;
29For whoever committeth any of these abominations, ...the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
30So then, keep my orders, so that you may not do any of these disgusting things which were done before you, or make yourselves unclean through them: I am the Lord your God.
30and ye have kept My charge, so as not to do <FI>any<Fi> of the abominable statutes which have been done before you, and ye do not defile yourselves with them; I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah your God.'
30And ye shall observe my charge, that ye commit not [any] of the abominable customs which were committed before you; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean therein: I am Jehovah yourGod.
