1And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jonah a second time, saying,

1And the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying,

1And the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

2`Rise, go unto Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim unto it the proclamation that I am speaking unto thee;'

2Up! go to Nineveh, that great town, and give it the word which I have given you.

2Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I shall bid thee.

3and Jonah riseth, and he goeth unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. And Nineveh hath been a great city before God, a journey of three days.

3So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh as the Lord had said. Now Nineveh was a very great town, three days' journey from end to end.

3And Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

4And Jonah beginneth to go in to the city a journey of one day, and proclaimeth, and saith, `Yet forty days--and Nineveh is overturned.'

4And Jonah first of all went a day's journey into the town, and crying out said, In forty days destruction will overtake Nineveh.

4And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!

5And the men of Nineveh believe in God, and proclaim a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even unto their least,

5And the people of Nineveh had belief in God; and a time was fixed for going without food, and they put on haircloth, from the greatest to the least.

5And the men of Nineveh believedGod, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

6seeing the word doth come unto the king of Nineveh, and he riseth from his throne, and removeth his honourable robe from off him, and spreadeth out sackcloth, and sitteth on the ashes,

6And the word came to the king of Nineveh, and he got up from his seat of authority, and took off his robe, and covering himself with haircloth, took his seat in the dust.

6And the word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and laid his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

7and he crieth and saith in Nineveh by a decree of the king and his great ones, saying, `Man and beast, herd and flock--let them not taste anything, let them not feed, even water let them not drink;

7And he had it given out in Nineveh, By the order of the king and his great men, no man or beast, herd or flock, is to have a taste of anything; let them have no food or water:

7And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: let them not feed, nor drink water;

8and cover themselves <FI>with<Fi> sackcloth let man and beast, and let them call unto God mightily, and let them turn back each from his evil way, and from the violence that <FI>is<Fi> in their hands.

8And let man and beast be covered with haircloth, and let them make strong prayers to God: and let everyone be turned from his evil way and the violent acts of their hands.

8and let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily untoGod; and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

9Who knoweth? He doth turn back, and God hath repented, and hath turned back from the heat of His anger, and we do not perish.'

9Who may say that God will not be turned, changing his purpose and turning away from his burning wrath, so that destruction may not overtake us?

9Who knoweth but thatGod will turn and repent, and will turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

10And God seeth their works, that they have turned back from their evil way, and God repenteth of the evil that He spake of doing to them, and he hath not done <FI>it<Fi> .

10And God saw what they did, how they were turned from their evil way; and God's purpose was changed as to the evil which he said he would do to them, and he did it not.

10AndGod saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; andGod repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them, and he did [it] not.
