Young's Literal Translation · 1862
2Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet words forGod.
2Honour me a little, and I shew thee, That yet for God <FI>are<Fi> words.
3I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Creator.
3I lift up my knowledge from afar, And to my Maker I ascribe righteousness.
4For truly my words shall be no falsehood: one perfect in knowledge is with thee.
4For, truly, my words <FI>are<Fi> not false, The perfect in knowledge <FI>is<Fi> with thee.
5Lo,God is mighty, but despiseth not [any]; mighty in strength of understanding:
5Lo, God <FI>is<Fi> mighty, and despiseth not, Mighty <FI>in<Fi> power <FI>and<Fi> heart.
6He saveth not the wicked alive; but he doeth justice to the afflicted.
6He reviveth not the wicked, And the judgment of the poor appointeth;
7He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne doth he even set them for ever; and they are exalted.
7He withdraweth not from the righteous His eyes, And <FI>from<Fi> kings on the throne, And causeth them to sit for ever, and they are high,
8And if, bound in fetters, they be held in cords of affliction,
8And if prisoners in fetters They are captured with cords of affliction,
9Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions, because they have increased.
9Then He declareth to them their work, And their transgressions, Because they have become mighty,
10And he openeth their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
10And He uncovereth their ear for instruction, And saith that they turn back from iniquity.
11If they hearken and serve [him], they shall accomplish their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
11If they do hear and serve, They complete their days in good, And their years in pleasantness.
12But if they hearken not, they shall pass away by the sword, and expire without knowledge.
12And if they do not hearken, By the dart they pass away, And expire without knowledge.
13But thegodless in heart heap up anger; they cry not when he bindeth them:
13And the profane in heart set the face, They cry not when He hath bound them.
14Their soul dieth in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
14Their soul dieth in youth, And their life among the defiled.
15But he delivereth the afflicted in his affliction, and openeth their ear in [their] oppression.
15He draweth out the afflicted in his affliction, And uncovereth in oppression their ear.
16Even so would he have allured thee out of the jaws of distress into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and the supply of thy table [would be] full of fatness.
16And also He moved thee from a strait place, <FI>To<Fi> a broad place--no straitness under it, And the sitting beyond of thy table Hath been full of fatness.
17But thou art full of the judgments of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold [on thee].
17And the judgment of the wicked thou hast fulfilled, Judgment and justice are upheld--because of fury,
18Because there is wrath, [beware] lest it take thee away through chastisement: then a great ransom could not avail thee.
18Lest He move thee with a stroke, And the abundance of an atonement turn thee not aside.
19Will he esteem thy riches? Not gold, nor all the resources of strength!
19Doth He value thy riches? He hath gold, and all the forces of power.
20Desire not the night, when peoples are cut off from their place.
20Desire not the night, For the going up of peoples in their stead.
21Take heed, turn not to iniquity; for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
21Take heed--do not turn unto iniquity, For on this thou hast fixed Rather than <FI>on<Fi> affliction.
22Lo,God is exalted in his power: who teacheth as he?
22Lo, God doth sit on high by His power, Who <FI>is<Fi> like Him--a teacher?
23Who hath appointed him his way? or who hath said, Thou hast wrought unrighteousness?
23Who hath appointed unto Him his way? And who said, `Thou hast done iniquity?'
24Remember that thou magnify his work, which men celebrate.
24Remember that thou magnify His work That men have beheld.
25All men look at it; man beholdeth [it] afar off.
25All men have looked on it, Man looketh attentively from afar.
26Lo,God is great, and we comprehend [him] not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
26Lo, God <FI>is<Fi> high, And we know not the number of His years, Yea, there <FI>is<Fi> no searching.
27For he draweth up the drops of water: they distil in rain from the vapour which he formeth,
27When He doth diminish droppings of the waters, They refine rain according to its vapour,
28Which the skies pour down [and] drop upon man abundantly.
28Which clouds do drop, They distil on man abundantly.
29But can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, [or] the crashing of his pavilion?
29Yea, doth <FI>any<Fi> understand The spreadings out of a cloud? The noises of His tabernacle?
30Lo, he spreadeth his light around him, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
30Lo, He hath spread over it His light, And the roots of the sea He hath covered,
31For with them he judgeth the peoples; he giveth food in abundance.
31For by them He doth judge peoples, He giveth food in abundance.
