1Moreover Elihu answered and said,
1And Elihu answereth and saith: --
1Moreover Eliu spoke these words:
2Thinkest thou this to be thy right, Or sayest thou, My righteousness is more than God’s,
2This hast thou reckoned for judgment: Thou hast said--`My righteousness <FI>is<Fi> more than God's?'
2Doth thy thought seem right to thee, that thou shouldst say: I am more just than God?
3That thou sayest, What advantage will it be unto thee? And, What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?
3For thou sayest, `What doth it profit Thee! What do I profit from my sin?'
3For thou saidst: That which is right doth not please thee: or what will it profit thee if I sin?
4I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.
4I return thee words, and thy friends with thee,
4Therefore I will answer thy words, and thy friends with thee.
5Look unto the heavens, and see; And behold the skies, which are higher than thou.
5Behold attentively the heavens--and see, And behold the clouds, They have been higher than thou.
5Look up to heaven and see, and behold the sky, that it is higher than thee.
6If thou hast sinned, what effectest thou against him? And if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
6If thou hast sinned, what dost thou against Him? And thy transgressions have been multiplied, What dost thou to Him?
6If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him?
7If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? Or what receiveth he of thy hand?
7If thou hast been righteous, What dost thou give to Him? Or what from thy hand doth He receive?
7And if thou do justly, what shalt thou give him, or what shall he receive of thy hand?
8Thy wickednessmay hurta man as thou art; And thy righteousness may profit a son of man.
8For a man like thyself <FI>is<Fi> thy wickedness, And for a son of man thy righteousness.
8Thy wickedness may hurt a man that is like thee: and thy justice may help the son of man.
9By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.
9Because of the multitude of oppressions They cause to cry out, They cry because of the arm of the mighty.
9By reason of the multitude of oppressors they shall cry out: and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants.
10But none saith, Where is God my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night,
10And none said, `Where <FI>is<Fi> God my maker? Giving songs in the night,
10And he hath not said: Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night?
11Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of the heavens?
11Teaching us more than the beasts of the earth, Yea, than the fowl of the heavens He maketh us wiser.'
11Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and instructeth us more than the fowls of the air.
12There they cry, but none giveth answer, Because of the pride of evil men.
12There they cry, and He doth not answer, Because of the pride of evil doers.
12There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men.
13Surely God will not hear an emptycry, Neither will the Almighty regard it.
13Surely vanity God doth not hear, And the Mighty doth not behold it.
13God therefore will not hear in vain, and the Almighty will look into the causes of every one.
14How much less when thou sayest thou beholdest him not, The cause is before him, and thou waitest for him!
14Yea, though thou sayest thou dost not behold Him, Judgment <FI>is<Fi> before Him, and stay for Him.
14Yea, when thou shalt say: He considereth not: be judged before him, and expect him.
