1So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he seemed just to himself.
1And these three men cease from answering Job, for he <FI>is<Fi> righteous in his own eyes,
1And these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2And Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite of the kindred of Ram, was angry and was moved to indignation: now he was angry against Job, because he said he was just before God.
2and burn doth the anger of Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram; against Job hath his anger burned, because of his justifying himself more than God;
2Then was kindled the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel, the Buzite, of the family of Ram: against Job was his anger kindled, because he justified himself rather thanGod;
3And he was angry with his friends, because they had not found a reasonable answer, but only had condemned Job.
3and against his three friends hath his anger burned, because that they have not found an answer, and condemn Job.
3and against his three friends was his anger kindled, because they found no answer, and [yet] condemned Job.
4So Eliu waited while Job was speaking because they were his elders that were speaking.
4And Elihu hath waited earnestly beside Job with words, for they are older than he in days.
4But Elihu had waited till Job had finished speaking, because they were older than he.
5But when he saw that the three were not able to answer, he was exceedingly angry.
5And Elihu seeth that there is no answer in the mouth of the three men, and his anger burneth.
5And Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, and his anger was kindled.
6Then Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered, and said: I am younger in days, and you are more ancient, therefore hanging down my head, I was afraid to shew you my opinion.
6And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite answereth and saith: --Young I <FI>am<Fi> in days, and ye <FI>are<Fi> age Therefore I have feared, And am afraid of shewing you my opinion.
6And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are aged; wherefore I was timid, and feared to shew you what I know.
7For I hoped that greater age would speak, and that a multitude of years would teach wisdom.
7I said: Days do speak, And multitude of years teach wisdom.
7I said, Let days speak, and multitude of years teach wisdom.
8But, as I see, there is a spirit in men, and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth understanding.
8Surely a spirit is in man, And the breath of the Mighty One Doth cause them to understand.
8But there is a spirit which is in man; and the breath of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
9They that are aged are not the wise men, neither do the ancients understand judgment.
9The multitude are not wise, Nor do the aged understand judgment.
9It is not the great that are wise; neither do the aged understand judgment.
10Therefore I will speak: Hearken to me, I also will shew you my wisdom.
10Therefore I have said: Hearken to me, I do shew my opinion--even I.
10Therefore I say, Hearken to me; I also will shew what I know.
11For I have waited for your words, I have given ear to your wisdom, as long as you were disputing in words.
11Lo, I have waited for your words, I give ear unto your reasons, Till ye search out sayings.
11Lo, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasonings, until ye searched out what to say.
12And as long as I thought you said some thing, I considered: but, as I see, there is none of you that can convince Job, and answer his words.
12And unto you I attend, And lo, there is no reasoner for Job, <FI>Or<Fi> answerer of his sayings among you.
12Yea, I gave you mine attention, and behold, there was none of you that confuted Job, that answered his words;
13Lest you should say: We have found wisdom, God hath cast him down, not man.
13Lest ye say, We have found wisdom, God doth thrust him away, not man.
13That ye may not say, We have found out wisdom;God will make him yield, not man.
14He hath spoken nothing to me, and I will not answer him according to your words.
14And he hath not set in array words for me, And with your sayings I do not answer him.
14Now he hath not directed [his] words against me; and I will not answer him with your speeches. ...
15They were afraid, and answered no more, and they left off speaking.
15(They have broken down, They have not answered again, They removed from themselves words.
15They were amazed, they answered no more; words failed them.
16Therefore because I have waited, and they have not spoken: they stood, and answered no more:
16And I have waited, but they do not speak, For they have stood still, They have not answered any more.)
16And I waited, for they spoke not, but stood still, and answered no more; —
17I also will answer my part, and will shew my knowledge.
17I answer, even I--my share, I shew my opinion--even I.
17I will answer, I also in my turn, I also will shew what I know:
18For I am full of matter to speak of, and the spirit of my bowels straiteneth me.
18For I have been full of words, Distressed me hath the spirit of my breast,
18For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.
19Behold, my belly is as new wine which wanteth vent, which bursteth the new vessels.
19Lo, my breast <FI>is<Fi> as wine not opened, Like new bottles it is broken up.
19Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; like new flasks, it is ready to burst.
20I will speak and take breath a little: I will open my lips, and will answer.
20I speak, and there is refreshment to me, I open my lips and answer.
20I will speak, that I may find relief; I will open my lips and answer.
