1The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
1The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying,
2`Thus spake Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Write for thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee on a book.
2Thus speaketh Jehovah theGod of Israel, saying, Write thee in a book all the words that I have spoken unto thee.
3For, lo, days are coming--an affirmation of Jehovah--and I have turned back <FI>to<Fi> the captivity of My people Israel and Judah, said Jehovah, and I have caused them to turn back unto the land that I gave to their fathers, and they do possess it.'
3For behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, when I will turn the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
4And these <FI>are<Fi> the words that Jehovah hath spoken concerning Israel and concerning Judah:
4And these are the words that Jehovah hath spoken concerning Israel and concerning Judah;
5Surely thus said Jehovah: A voice of trembling we have heard, Fear--and there is no peace.
5for thus saith Jehovah: We have heard a voice of trembling, there is fear, and no peace.
6Ask, I pray you, and see, is a male bringing forth? Wherefore have I seen every man, His hands on his loins, as a travailing woman, And all faces have been turned to paleness?
6Ask ye now, and see, whether a male doth travail with child? Wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail; and all faces are turned into paleness?
7Woe! for great <FI>is<Fi> that day, without any like it, Yea, a time of adversity it <FI>is<Fi> to Jacob, Yet out of it he is saved.
7Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
8And it hath come to pass, in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, I break his yoke from off thy neck, And thy bands I draw away, And lay no more service on him do strangers.
8And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more reduce him to servitude.
9And they have served Jehovah their God, And David their king whom I raise up to them.
9But they shall serve Jehovah theirGod, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
10And thou, be not afraid, My servant Jacob, An affirmation of Jehovah, Nor be affrighted, O Israel, For, lo, I am saving thee from afar, And thy seed from the land of their captivity, And Jacob hath turned back and rested, And is quiet, and there is none troubling.
10And thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, saith Jehovah; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and at ease, and none shall make [him] afraid.
11For with thee <FI>am<Fi> I, An affirmation of Jehovah--to save thee, For I make an end of all the nations Whither I have scattered thee, Only, of thee I do not make an end, And I have chastised thee in judgment, And do not entirely acquit thee.
11For I am with thee, saith Jehovah, to save thee: for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have scattered thee; yet of thee will I not make a full end, but I will correct thee with judgment, and will not hold thee altogether guiltless.
12For thus said Jehovah: Incurable is thy breach, grievous thy stroke,
12For thus saith Jehovah: Thy bruise is incurable, thy wound is grievous.
13There is none judging thy cause to bind up, Healing medicines there are none for thee.
13There is none to plead thy cause, to bind up [thy wound]; thou hast no healing medicines.
14all loving thee have forgotten thee, Thee they do not seek, For with the stroke of an enemy I smote thee, The chastisement of a fierce one, Because of the abundance of thy iniquity, Mighty have been thy sins!
14All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not. For I have smitten thee with the stroke of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of thine iniquity: thy sins are manifold.
15What! --thou criest concerning thy breach! Incurable <FI>is<Fi> thy pain, Because of the abundance of thy iniquity, Mighty have been thy sins! I have done these to thee.
15Why criest thou because of thy bruise? thy sorrow is incurable; for the greatness of thine iniquity, [because] thy sins are manifold, I have done these things unto thee.
16Therefore all consuming thee are consumed, And all thine adversaries--all of them--Into captivity do go, And thy spoilers have been for a spoil, And all thy plunderers I give up to plunder.
16Therefore all that devour thee shall be devoured, and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be for a spoil; and all they that prey upon thee will I give to be a prey.
17For I increase health to thee, And from thy strokes I do heal thee, An affirmation of Jehovah, For `Outcast' they have called to thee, `Zion it <FI>is<Fi> , there is none seeking for her.'
17For I will apply a bandage unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith Jehovah; for they have called thee an outcast: This is Zion that no man seeketh after.
18Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I turn back <FI>to<Fi> the captivity of the tents of Jacob, And his dwelling places I pity, And the city hath been built on its heap, And the palace according to its ordinance remaineth.
18Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will turn the captivity of Jacob's tents, and have mercy on his habitations; and the city shall be built upon her own heap; and the palace shall be inhabited after the manner thereof.
19And gone forth from them hath thanksgiving, And the voice of playful ones, And I have multiplied them and they are not few, And made them honourable, and they are not small.
19And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving, and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be diminished; and I will honour them, and they shall not be small.
20And his sons have been as aforetime, And his company before Me is established, And I have seen after all his oppressors.
20And their sons shall be as aforetime; and their assembly shall be established before me; and I will punish all that oppress them.
21And his honourable one hath been of himself, And his ruler from his midst goeth forth, And I have caused him to draw near, And he hath drawn nigh unto Me, For who <FI>is<Fi> he who hath pledged his heart To draw nigh unto Me? An affirmation of Jehovah.
21And their prince shall be of themselves, and their ruler shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to approach, and he shall draw near unto me. For who is this that engageth his heart to draw near unto me? saith Jehovah.
22And ye have been to Me for a people, And I am to you for God.
22And ye shall be my people, and I will be yourGod.
23Lo, a whirlwind of Jehovah--Fury hath gone forth--a cutting whirlwind, On the head of the wicked it stayeth.
23Behold, a tempest of Jehovah, fury is gone forth, a sweeping storm: it shall whirl down upon the head of the wicked.
24The fierceness of the anger of Jehovah Doth not turn back till His doing, Yea, till His establishing the devices of His heart, In the latter end of the days we consider it!
24The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not return, until he have executed, and until he have performed the purposes of his heart. At the end of the days ye shall consider it.
