Isaiah 52

1Awake! awake! put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful robes, O Jerusalem, the holy town: for from now there will never again come into you the unclean and those without circumcision.

1Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion, Put on the garments of thy beauty, Jerusalem--the Holy City; For enter no more into thee again, Do the uncircumcised and unclean.

1Arise, arise, put on thy strength, O Sion, put on the garments of thy glory, O Jerusalem, the city of the Holy One: for henceforth the uncircumcised, and unclean shall no more pass through thee.

2Make yourself clean from the dust; up! and take the seat of your power, O Jerusalem: the bands of your neck are loose, O prisoned daughter of Zion.

2Shake thyself from dust, arise, sit, O Jerusalem, Bands of thy neck have loosed themselves, O captive, daughter of Zion.

2Shake thyself from the dust, arise, sit up, O Jerusalem: loose the bonds from off thy neck, O captive daughter of Sion.

3For the Lord says, You were given for nothing, and you will be made free without price.

3For thus said Jehovah: `For nought ye have been sold, And not by money are ye redeemed.'

3For thus saith the Lord: You were sold gratis, and you shall be redeemed, without money.

4For the Lord God says, My people went down at first into Egypt, to get a place for themselves there: and the Assyrian put a cruel yoke on them without cause.

4For thus said the Lord Jehovah: `To Egypt My people went down at first to sojourn there, And Asshur--for nought he hath oppressed it.

4For thus saith the Lord God: My people went down into Egypt at the beginning to sojourn there: and the Assyrian hath oppressed them without any cause at all.

5Now then, what have I here? says the Lord, for my people are taken away without cause; they are made waste and give cries of sorrow, says the Lord, and all the day the nations put shame on my name.

5And now, what--to Me here, An affirmation of Jehovah, That taken is My people for nought? Its rulers cause howling, --an affirmation of Jehovah, And continually all the day My name is despised.

5And now what have I here, saith the Lord: for my people is taken away gratis. They that rule over them treat them unjustly, saith the Lord, and my name is continually blasphemed all the day long.

6For this cause I will make my name clear to my people; in that day they will be certain that it is my word which comes to them; see, here am I.

6Therefore doth My people know My name, Therefore, in that day, Surely I <FI>am<Fi> He who is speaking, behold Me.'

6Therefore my people shall know my name in that day: for I myself that spoke, behold I am here.

7How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who comes with good news, who gives word of peace, saying that salvation is near; who says to Zion, Your God is ruling!

7How comely on the mountains, Have been the feet of one proclaiming tidings, Sounding peace, proclaiming good tidings, Sounding salvation, Saying to Zion, `Reigned hath thy God.'

7How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, and that preacheth peace: of him that sheweth forth good, that preacheth salvation, that saith to Sion: Thy God shall reign!

8The voice of your watchmen! their voices are loud in song together; for they will see him, eye to eye, when the Lord comes back to Zion.

8The voice of thy watchmen! They have lifted up the voice, together they cry aloud, Because eye to eye they see, in Jehovah's turning back <FI>to<Fi> Zion.

8The voice of thy watchmen: they have lifted up their voice, they shall praise together: for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord shall convert Sion.

9Give sounds of joy, make melody together, waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord has given comfort to his people, he has taken up the cause of Jerusalem.

9Break forth, sing together, O wastes of Jerusalem, For Jehovah hath comforted His people, He hath redeemed Jerusalem.

9Rejoice, and give praise together, O ye deserts of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people: he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

10The Lord has let his holy arm be seen by the eyes of all nations; and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

10Jehovah hath made bare His holy arm Before the eyes of all the nations, And seen have all the ends of the earth, The salvation of our God.

10The Lord hath prepared his holy arm in the sight of all the Gentiles: and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

11Away! away! go out from there, touching no unclean thing; go out from among her; be clean, you who take up the vessels of the Lord.

11Turn aside, turn aside, go out thence, The unclean touch not, go out from her midst, Be ye pure, who are bearing the weapons of Jehovah.

11Depart, depart, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing: go out of the midst of her, be ye clean, you that carry the vessels of the Lord.

12For you will not go out suddenly, and you will not go in flight: for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will come after you to keep you.

12For not in haste do ye go out, Yea, with flight ye go not on, For going before you <FI>is<Fi> Jehovah, And gathering you <FI>is<Fi> the God of Israel!

12For you shall not go out in a tumult, neither shall you make haste by flight: for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will gather you together.

13See, my servant will do well in his undertakings, he will be honoured, and lifted up, and be very high.

13Lo, My servant doth act wisely, He is high, and hath been lifted up, And hath been very high.

13Behold my servant shall understand, he shall be exalted, and extolled, and shall be exceeding high.

14As peoples were surprised at him, And his face was not beautiful, so as to be desired: his face was so changed by disease as to be unlike that of a man, and his form was no longer that of the sons of men.

14As astonished at thee have been many, (So marred by man his appearance, And his form by sons of men.)

14As many have been astonished at thee, so shall his visage be inglorious among men, and his form among the sons of men.

15So will nations give him honour; kings will keep quiet because of him: for what had not been made clear to them they will see; and they will give their minds to what had not come to their ears.

15So doth he sprinkle many nations. Concerning him kings shut their mouth, For that which was not recounted to them they have seen, And that which they had not heard they have understood!

15He shall sprinkle many nations, kings shall shut their mouth at him: for they to whom it was not told of him, have seen: and they that heard not, have beheld.
