1The burden of Moab. Because in a night destroyed was Ar of Moab--It hath been cut off, Because in a night destroyed was Kir of Moab--It hath been cut off.
1The word about Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab has become waste, and is seen no longer; for in a night Kir of Moab has become waste, and is seen no longer.
2He hath gone up to Bajith and Dibon, The high places--to weep, On Nebo and on Medeba Moab howleth, On all its heads <FI>is<Fi> baldness, every beard cut off.
2The daughter of Dibon has gone up to the high places, weeping: Moab is sounding her cry of sorrow over Nebo, and over Medeba: everywhere the hair of the head and of the face is cut off.
3In its out-places they girded on sackcloth, On its pinnacles, and in its broad places, Every one howleth--going down with weeping.
3In their streets they are covering themselves with haircloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their public places, there is crying and bitter weeping.
4And cry doth Heshbon and Elealeh, Unto Jahaz heard hath been their voice, Therefore the armed ones of Moab do shout, His life hath been grievous to him.
4Heshbon is crying out, and Elealeh; their voice is sounding even to Jahaz: for this cause the heart of Moab is shaking; his soul is shaking with fear.
5My heart <FI>is<Fi> toward Moab, Cry do her fugitives unto Zoar, a heifer of the third <FI>year<Fi> , For--the ascent of Luhith--With weeping he goeth up in it, For, in the way of Horonaim, A cry of destruction they wake up.
5My heart is crying out for Moab; her people go in flight to Zoar, and to Eglath-shelishiyah: for they go up with weeping by the slope of Luhith; on the way to Horonaim they send up a cry of destruction.
6For, the waters of Nimrim are desolations, For, withered hath been the hay, Finished hath been the tender grass, A green thing there hath not been.
6The waters of Nimrim will become dry: for the grass is burned up, the young grass is coming to an end, every green thing is dead.
7Therefore the abundance he made, and their store, Unto the brook of the willows they carry.
7For this cause they will take away their wealth, and the stores they have got together, over the stream of the water-plants.
