1Let love of the brethren continue.

1Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.

2Forget not to show love unto strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

2Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing this, some people have hosted angels without even knowing it.

3Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; them that are ill-treated, as being yourselves also in the body.

3Remember those who are in prison as if you were in prison with them, and remember those who are mistreated as if you were suffering the same things in your own body.

4Let marriage be had in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

4Marriage should be honored by everyone, and the marriage bed kept pure, because God will judge those who are sexually immoral and those who commit adultery.

5Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.

5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be satisfied with what you have, because God has said, 'I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.'

6So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?

6So we can say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'

7Remember them that had the rule over you, men that spake unto you the word of God; and considering the issue of their life, imitate their faith.

7Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Think about the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

8Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day, yea and for ever.

8极Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

9Be not carried away by divers and strange teachings: for it is good that the heart be established by grace; not by meats, wherein they that occupied themselves were not profited.

9Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which have never helped those who follow such rules.

10We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat that serve the tabernacle.

10We have an altar from which those who serve at the sacred tent have no right to eat.

11For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned without the camp.

11The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies of those animals are burned outside the camp.

12Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate.

12And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.

13Let us therefore go forth unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.

13Let us, then, go to him outside the camp and carry the same shame that he bore.

14For we have not here an abiding city, but we seek after the city which is to come.

14For here on earth we do not have a city that lasts forever, but we are looking for the city that is coming.

15Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name.

15Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.

16But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

16Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for these are the kinds of sacrifices that please God.

17Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit to them: for they watch in behalf of your souls, as they that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief: for this were unprofitable for you.

17Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over your souls as people who must give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with sadness, for that would be of no benefit to you.

18Pray for us: for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things.

18Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and we want to live honorably in every way.

19And I exhortyouthe more exceedingly to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

19I especially urge you to pray that I may be restored to you very soon.

20Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, even our Lord Jesus,

20Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus—that great Shepherd of the sheep—

21make you perfect in every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

22But I exhort you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation: for I have written unto you in few words.

22Brothers and sisters, I urge you to listen patiently to this message of encouragement, for I have written to you quite briefly.

23Know ye that our brother Timothy hath been set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.

23I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, he will be with me when I come to see you.

24Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.

24Greet all your leaders and all of God’s people. Those from Italy send you their greetings.

25Grace be with you all. Amen.

25May grace be with you all. Amen.
