What Hebrews 10:13 means
From his exalted seat, Christ waits until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet. The victory secured at the cross is sure, and its full display in history is pending. This waiting is not uncertainty but sovereign expectation. The imagery assures believers that opposition to Christ and his people will not last; the enthroned priest-king will see all hostile powers subdued. The verse ties atonement to kingship: the one who died for sins now reigns and will consummate his triumph. This strengthens the resolve of readers facing pressure, reminding them that their champion is enthroned and history is moving toward his vindication.

Context
After declaring Christ seated at God’s right hand (v. 12), verse 13 describes the interval before the full subjection of his enemies. This sets a temporal frame: the work of atonement is done; the outworking of Christ’s lordship continues. Verse 14 will now focus again on the effect of his offering for believers, showing that, even as the consummation awaits, their standing is secure. Then verses 15–18 will bring the Spirit’s covenant testimony to conclude the doctrinal section.
