What Ezra 2:56 means
The children of Jaalah, Darkon, and Giddel are added among Solomon’s servants. Their presence demonstrates that this class included multiple families with inherited roles in service. By preserving their names, the text safeguards their identity and ensures that their contributions to temple maintenance and related duties would be recognized. As with the Nethinim, these households formed an indispensable part of the operational backbone of worship life.

Context
This verse continues the short list of Solomon’s servants. One more verse will complete their families (v. 57), followed by a total for both the Nethinim and Solomon’s servants (v. 58). Then the chapter will pivot to those of uncertain genealogy (vv. 59–63), a transition from staffing to safeguarding the sanctity and legitimacy of roles, especially within the priesthood.
