1Now these are the names of the tribes: From the north end, beside the way of Hethlon to the entrance of Hamath, Hazar-enan at the border of Damascus, northward beside Hamath (and they shall have their sides east and west), Dan, one portion.

1These are the names of the tribes and their land: Starting at the northern end, following the Hethlon road toward the entrance of Hamath and on to Hazar-enan at the Damascus border, Dan will have one section stretching from the eastern border to the western border.

2And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side, Asher, one portion.

2Next to Dan’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Asher will have one section.

3And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side, Naphtali, one portion.

3Next to Asher’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Naphtali will have one section.

4And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side, Manasseh, one portion.

4Next to Naphtali’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Manasseh will have one section.

5And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side, Ephraim, one portion.

5Next to Manasseh’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Ephraim will have one section.

6And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side, Reuben, one portion.

6Next to Ephraim’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Reuben will have one section.

7And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side, Judah, one portion.

7Next to Reuben’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Judah will have one section.

8And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the oblation which ye shall offer, five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the portions, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.

8Next to Judah’s territory, from the east side to the west side, will be the special area you set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and as long from east to west as the other tribal sections. The sanctuary will be in the middle of it.

9The oblation that ye shall offer unto Jehovah shall be five and twenty thousand reeds in length, and ten thousand in breadth.

9The special area you set apart for the LORD will be 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide.

10And for these, even for the priests, shall be the holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of Jehovah shall be in the midst thereof.

10This holy area will be for the priests. On the north side it will be 25,000 cubits long, on the west 10,000 cubits wide, on the east 10,000 cubits wide, and on the south 25,000 cubits long. The sanctuary of the LORD will be in the middle of it.

11It shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok, that have kept my charge, that went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.

11This area is for the consecrated priests from the family of Zadok, who served me faithfully and did not go astray like the Levites did when the people of Israel wandered off.

12And it shall be unto them an oblation from the oblation of the land, a thing most holy, by the border of the Levites.

12It will be a special gift to them from the sacred land, a most holy place next to the territory of the Levites.

13And answerable unto the border of the priests, the Levites shall have five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: all the length shall be five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.

13Alongside the priests' territory, the Levites will have an area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. The total length will be 25,000 cubits and the width 10,000 cubits.

14And they shall sell none of it, nor exchange it, nor shall the first-fruits of the land be alienated; for it is holy unto Jehovah.

14They must not sell or trade any of this land. It is the best part of the land and cannot be given to others, because it is holy to the LORD.

15And the five thousand that are left in the breadth, in front of the five and twenty thousand, shall be for common use, for the city, for dwelling and for suburbs; and the city shall be in the midst thereof.

15The remaining strip of land, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for common use: for the city, for housing, and for pasture land. The city will be in the middle of it.

16And these shall be the measures thereof: the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.

16These are the measurements of the city: the north side will be 4,500 cubits, the south side 4,500, the east side 4,500, and the west side 4,500.

17And the city shall have suburbs: toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.

17The city will have an open area of 250 cubits on the north, 250 on the south, 250 on the east, and 250 on the west.

18And the residue in the length, answerable unto the holy oblation, shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward; and it shall be answerable unto the holy oblation; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that labor in the city.

18The rest of the land alongside the holy area will be 10,000 cubits long on the east and 10,000 on the west. This land will produce food for the city workers.

19And they that labor in the city, out of all the tribes of Israel, shall till it.

19The workers from the city, who come from all the tribes of Israel, will farm this land.

20All the oblation shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand: ye shall offer the holy oblation foursquare, with the possession of the city.

20The entire special area will be a square, 25,000 cubits by 25,000 cubits. You must set this apart as the holy section, along with the city property.

21And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy oblation and of the possession of the city; in front of the five and twenty thousand of the oblation toward the east border, and westward in front of the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, answerable unto the portions, it shall be for the prince: and the holy oblation and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.

21The land left over on both sides of the holy area and the city property will belong to the prince. It will extend eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy area to the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. Both these areas, alongside the tribal portions, will belong to the prince. The holy area and the temple sanctuary will be in the middle.

22Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, it shall be for the prince.

22So the prince’s land will be located between the borders of Judah and Benjamin, except for the sections that belong to the Levites and the city.

23And as for the rest of the tribes: from the east side unto the west side, Benjamin, one portion.

23As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west side, Benjamin will have one section.

24And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side, Simeon, one portion.

24Next to Benjamin’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Simeon will have one section.

25And by the border of Simeon, from the east side unto the west side, Issachar, one portion.

25Next to Simeon’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Issachar will have one section.

26And by the border of Issachar, from the east side unto the west side, Zebulun, one portion.

26Next to Issachar’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun will have one section.

27And by the border of Zebulun, from the east side unto the west side, Gad, one portion.

27Next to Zebulun’s territory, from the east side to the west side, Gad will have one section.

28And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of Meribath-kadesh, to the brook of Egypt, unto the great sea.

28The southern border of Gad’s territory will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the Brook of Egypt to the Mediterranean Sea.

29This is the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their several portions, saith the Lord Jehovah.

29This is the land you are to divide by lot among the tribes of Israel as their inheritance, and these are their shares, says the Lord GOD.

30And these are the egresses of the city: On the north side four thousand and five hundred reeds by measure;

30These will be the exits of the city: On the north side, which measures 4,500 cubits long,

31and the gates of the city shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel, three gates northward: the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one.

31there will be three gates named after the tribes of Israel: the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.

32And at the east side four thousand and five hundred reeds, and three gates: even the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one.

32On the east side, measuring 4,500 cubits, there will be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan.

33And at the south side four thousand and five hundred reeds by measure, and three gates: the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one.

33On the south side, measuring 4,500 cubits, there will be three gates: the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar, and the gate of Zebulun.

34At the west side four thousand and five hundred reeds, with their three gates: the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one.

34On the west side, measuring 4,500 cubits, there will be three gates: the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of Naphtali.

35It shall be eighteen thousand reeds round about: and the name of the city from that day shall be, Jehovah is there.

35The total distance around the city will be 18,000 cubits. And from that day on, the name of the city will be: THE LORD IS THERE.
