1And he brought me again to the gate of the house, and behold waters issued out from under the threshold of the house toward the east: for the forefront of the house looked toward the east: but the waters came down to the right side of the temple to the south part of the altar.

1And he took me back to the door of the house; and I saw that waters were flowing out from under the doorstep of the house on the east, for the house was facing east: and the waters came down from under, from the right side of the house, on the south side of the altar.

1And he causeth me to turn back unto the opening of the house; and lo, water is coming forth from under the threshold of the house eastward, for the front of the house <FI>is<Fi> eastward, and the water is coming down from beneath, from the right side of the house, from the south of the altar.

2And he led me out by the way of the north gate, and he caused me to turn to the way without the outward gate to the way that looked toward the east: and behold there ran out waters on the right side.

2And he took me out by the north doorway, and made me go round to the outside of the doorway looking to the east; and I saw waters running slowly out on the south side.

2And he causeth me to go out the way of the gate northward, and causeth me to turn round the way without, unto the gate that <FI>is<Fi> without, the way that is looking eastward, and lo, water is coming forth from the right side.

3And when the man that had the line in his hand went out towards the east, he measured a thousand cubits: and he brought me through the water up to the ankles.

3And the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, and after measuring a thousand cubits, he made me go through the waters, which came over my feet.

3In the going out of the man eastward, and a line in his hand, then he measureth a thousand by the cubit, and he causeth me to pass over into water--water to the ankles.

4And again he measured a thousand, and he brought me through the water up to the knees.

4And again, measuring a thousand cubits, he made me go through the waters which came up to my knees. Again, measuring a thousand, he made me go through the waters up to the middle of my body.

4And he measureth a thousand, and causeth me to pass over into water--water to the knees. And he measureth a thousand, and causeth me to pass over--water to the loins.

5And he measured a thousand, and he brought me through the water up to the loins. And he measured a thousand, and it was a torrent, which I could not pass over: for the waters were risen so as to make a deep torrent, which could not be passed over.

5Again, after his measuring a thousand, it became a river which it was not possible to go through: for the waters had become deep enough for swimming, a river it was not possible to go through.

5And he measureth a thousand--a stream that I am not able to pass over; for risen have the waters--waters to swim in--a stream that is not passed over.

6And he said to me: Surely thou hast seen, O son of man. And he brought me out, and he caused me to turn to the bank of the torrent.

6And he said to me, Son of man, have you seen this? Then he took me to the river's edge.

6And he saith unto me, `Hast thou seen, son of man?' and he leadeth me, and bringeth me back unto the edge of the stream.

7And when I had turned myself, behold on the bank of the torrent were very many trees on both sides.

7And he took me back, and I saw at the edge of the river a very great number of trees on this side and on that.

7In my turning back, then, lo, at the edge of the stream <FI>are<Fi> very many trees, on this side and on that side.

8And he said to me: These waters that issue forth toward the hillocks of sand to the east, and go down to the plains of the desert, shall go into the sea, and shall go out, and the waters shall be healed.

8And he said to me, These waters are flowing out to the east part of the land and down into the Arabah; and they will go to the sea, and the waters will be made sweet.

8And he saith unto me, `These waters are going forth unto the east circuit, and have gone down unto the desert, and have entered the sea; unto the sea they are brought forth, and the waters have been healed.

9And every living creature that creepeth whithersoever the torrent shall come, shall live: and there shall be fishes in abundance after these waters shall come thither, and they shall be healed, and all things shall live to which the torrent shall come.

9And it will come about that every living and moving thing, wherever their streams come, will have life; and there will be very much fish because these waters have come there and have been made sweet: and everything wherever the river comes will have life.

9And it hath come to pass, every living creature that teemeth, whithersoever the streams come, doth live: and there hath been great abundance of fish, for these waters have come thither, and they are healed; and every thing whither the stream cometh hath lived.

10And the fishers shall stand over these waters, from Engaddi even to Engallim there shall be drying of nets: there shall be many sorts of the fishes thereof, as the fishes of the great sea, a very great multitude:

10And fishermen will take up their places by it: from En-gedi as far as En-eglaim will be a place for the stretching out of nets; the fish will be of every sort, like the fish of the Great Sea, a very great number.

10And it hath come to pass, fishers do stand by it, from En-Gedi even unto En-Eglaim; a spreading place of nets they are; according to their own kind is their fish, as the fish of the great sea, very many.

11But on the shore thereof, and in the fenny places they shall not be healed, because they shall be turned into saltpits.

11The wet places and the pools will not be made sweet; they will be given up to salt.

11Its miry and its marshy places--they are not healed; to salt they have been given up.

12And by the torrent on the banks thereof on both sides shall grow all trees that bear fruit: their leaf shall not fall off, and their fruit shall not fail: every month shall they bring forth firstfruits, because the waters thereof shall issue out of the sanctuary: and the fruits thereof shall be for food, and the leaves thereof for medicine.

12And by the edge of the river, on this side and on that, will come up every tree used for food, whose leaves will ever be green and its fruit will not come to an end: it will have new fruit every month, because its waters come out from the holy place: the fruit will be for food and the leaf will make well those who are ill.

12And by the stream there cometh up on its edge, on this side and on that side, every <FI>kind of<Fi> fruit-tree whose leaf fadeth not, and not consumed is its fruit, according to its months it yieldeth first-fruits, because its waters from the sanctuary are coming forth; and its fruits hath been for food, and its leaf for medicine.

13Thus saith the Lord God: This is the border, by which you shall possess the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: for Joseph hath a double portion.

13This is what the Lord has said: These are the limits by which you will take up your heritage in the land among the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph is to have two parts.

13`Thus said the Lord Jehovah: This <FI>is<Fi> the border whereby ye inherit the land, according to the twelve tribes of Israel; Joseph <FI>hath<Fi> portions.

14And you shall possess it, every man in like manner as his brother: concerning which I lifted up my hand to give it to your fathers: and this land shall fall unto you for a possession.

14And you are to make an equal division of it; as I gave my oath to your fathers to give it to you: for this land is to be your heritage.

14And ye have inherited it, one as well as another, in that I have lifted up My hand to give it to your fathers; and this land hath fallen to you in inheritance.

15And this is the border of the land: toward the north side, from the great sea by the way of Hethalon, as men go to Sedada,

15And this is to be the limit of the land: on the north side, from the Great Sea, in the direction of Hethlon, as far as the way into Hamath;

15`And this <FI>is<Fi> the border of the land at the north quarter; from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, at the coming in to Zedad:

16Emath, Berotha, Sabarim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Emath the house of Tichon, which is by the border of Auran.

16To Zedad, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the limit of Damascus and the limit of Hazar-hatticon, which is on the limit of Hauran.

16Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, that <FI>is<Fi> between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazar-Hatticon, that <FI>is<Fi> at the coast of Havran.

17And the border from the sea even to the court of Enan, shall be the border of Damascus, and from the north to the north: the border of Emath, this is the north side.

17And this is the limit from the sea in the direction of Hazar-enon; and the limit of Damascus is to the north, and on the north is the limit of Hamath. This is the north side.

17And the border from the sea hath been Hazar-Enan, the border of Damascus, and Zaphon at the north, and the border of Hamath: and <FI>this is<Fi> the north quarter.

18And the east side is from the midst of Auran, and from the midst of Damascus, and from the midst of Galaad, and from the midst of the land of Israel, Jordan making the bound to the east sea, and thus you shall measure the east side.

18And the east side will be from Hazar-enon, which is between Hauran and Damascus; and between Gilead and the land of Israel the Jordan will be the limit, to the east sea, to Tamar. This is the east side.

18`And the east quarter <FI>is<Fi> from between Havran, and Damascus, and Gilead, and the land of Israel, <FI>to<Fi> the Jordan; from the border over-against the eastern sea ye measure: and <FI>this is<Fi> the east quarter.

19And the south side southward is, from Thamar even to the waters of contradiction of Cades: and, the torrent even to the great sea: and this is the south side southward.

19And the south side to the south will be from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribath-kadesh, to the stream of Egypt, to the Great Sea. This is the south side, on the south.

19`And the south quarter southward <FI>is<Fi> from Tamar unto the waters of Meriboth-Kadesh, the stream unto the great sea: and <FI>this is<Fi> the south quarter southward.

20And the side toward the sea, is the great sea from the borders straight on, till thou come to Emath: this is the side of the sea.

20And the west side will be the Great Sea, from the limit on the south to a point opposite the way into Hamath. This is the west side.

20`And the west quarter <FI>is<Fi> the great sea, from the border till over-against the coming in to Hamath: this <FI>is<Fi> the west quarter.

21And you shall divide this land unto you by the tribes of Israel:

21You will make a division of the land among you, tribe by tribe.

21`And ye have divided this land to you, according to the tribes of Israel;

22And you shall divide it by lot for an inheritance to you, and to the strangers that shall come over to you, that shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as men of the same country born among the children of Israel: they shall divide the possession with you in the midst of the tribes of Israel.

22And you are to make a distribution of it, by the decision of the Lord, for a heritage to you and to the men from other lands who are living among you and who have children in your land: they will be the same to you as if they were Israelites by birth, they will have their heritage with you among the tribes of Israel.

22and it hath come to pass, ye separate it for an inheritance to yourselves, and to the sojourners who are sojourning in your midst, who have begotten sons in your midst, and they have been to you as native, with the sons of Israel, with you they are separated for an inheritance in the midst of the tribes of Israel.

23And in what tribe soever the stranger shall be, there shall you give him possession, saith the Lord God.

23In whatever tribe the man from a strange land is living, there you are to give him his heritage, says the Lord.

23And it hath come to pass, in the tribe with which the sojourner sojourneth, there ye give his inheritance--an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
