1Then he brought me forth into the outer court, the way toward the north: and he brought me into the chamber that was over against the separate place, and which was over against the building toward the north.
1Then the man led me out into the outer courtyard toward the north. He brought me to a block of rooms located next to the open area and the building on the north side.
2Before the length of a hundred cubits was the north door, and the breadth was fifty cubits.
2The building faced north and was 150 feet long and 75 feet wide.
3Over against the twentycubitswhich belonged to the inner court, and over against the pavement which belonged to the outer court, was gallery against gallery in the third story.
3These rooms were three stories high, with balconies facing each other. They were positioned between the 30-foot space of the inner courtyard and the stone walkway of the outer courtyard.
4And before the chambers was a walk of ten cubits’ breadth inward, a way of one cubit; and their doors were toward the north.
4In front of the rooms was an inner walkway 15 feet wide and 150 feet long, and their doors all faced north.
5Now the upper chambers were shorter; for the galleries took away from these, more than from the lower and the middlemost, in the building.
5The rooms on the top floor were narrower than the rooms on the bottom and middle floors because the balconies took up more space from them.
6For they were in three stories, and they had not pillars as the pillars of the courts: therefore the uppermost was straitened more than the lowest and the middlemost from the ground.
6Since the rooms were three stories high but did not have support pillars like the courtyards had, the top rooms were set back further than the bottom and middle rooms.
7And the wall that was without by the side of the chambers, toward the outer court before the chambers, the length thereof was fifty cubits.
7There was an outer wall parallel to the rooms and the outer courtyard; it was 75 feet long.
8For the length of the chambers that were in the outer court was fifty cubits: and, lo, before the temple were a hundred cubits.
8The row of rooms facing the outer courtyard was 75 feet long, but the row facing the temple was 150 feet long.
9And from under these chambers was the entry on the east side, as one goeth into them from the outer court.
9Below these rooms was an entrance on the east side for anyone entering them from the outer courtyard.
10In the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, before the separate place, and before the building, there were chambers.
10There were also rooms on the south side along the wall of the courtyard, next to the open area and the building.
11And the way before them was like the appearance of the way of the chambers which were toward the north; according to their length so was their breadth: and all their egresses were both according to their fashions, and according to their doors.
11There was a walkway in front of these rooms, just like the one for the rooms on the north side. They had the same length and width, with the same types of exits and layouts.
12And according to the doors of the chambers that were toward the south was a door at the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one entereth into them.
12Similar to the doors of the rooms on the south side, there was an entrance at the start of the walkway that ran along the wall to the east.
13Then said he unto me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they are the holy chambers, where the priests that are near unto Jehovah shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meal-offering, and the sin-offering, and the trespass-offering; for the place is holy.
13Then he said to me, 'The north and south rooms facing the open area are the holy rooms. This is where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings—because the place is holy.'
14When the priests enter in, then shall they not go out of the holy place into the outer court, but there they shall lay their garments wherein they minister; for they are holy: and they shall put on other garments, and shall approach to that which pertaineth to the people.
14Once the priests enter the holy area, they must not go directly into the outer courtyard. They must leave the clothes they wore while serving there, because those clothes are holy. They must put on different clothes before they go near the areas reserved for the people.
15Now when he had made an end of measuring the inner house, he brought me forth by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east, and measured it round about.
15When he finished measuring the inside of the temple area, he led me out through the east gate and measured the area all the way around.
16He measured on the east side with the measuring reed five hundred reeds, with the measuring reed round about.
16He measured the east side with a measuring rod, and it was 875 feet long.
17He measured on the north side five hundred reeds with the measuring reed round about.
17He measured the north side, and it was 875 feet long.
18He measured on the south side five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.
18He measured the south side, and it was 875 feet long.
19He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.
19Then he turned to the west side and measured 875 feet.
20He measured it on the four sides: it had a wall round about, the length five hundred, and the breadth five hundred, to make a separation between that which was holy and that which was common.
20He measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all the way around it, 875 feet long and 875 feet wide, to separate what was holy from what was common.
