1And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
1And it cometh to pass, in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying,
1And it came about in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
2Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharao the king of Egypt, and say to him: Thou art like the lion of the nations, and the dragon that is in the sea: and thou didst push with the horn in thy rivers, and didst trouble the waters with thy feet, and didst trample upon their streams.
2`Son of man, lift up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and thou hast said unto him: A young lion of nations thou hast been like, And thou <FI>art<Fi> as a dragon in the seas, And thou comest forth with thy flowings, And dost trouble the waters with thy feet, And thou dost foul their flowings.
2Son of man, make a song of grief for Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and say to him, Young lion of the nations, destruction has come on you; and you were like a sea-beast in the seas, sending out bursts of water, troubling the waters with your feet, making their streams dirty.
3Therefore, thus saith the Lord God: I will spread out my net over thee with the multitude of many people, and I will draw thee up in my net.
3Thus said the Lord Jehovah: And--I have spread out for thee My net, With an assembly of many peoples, And they have brought thee up in My net.
3This is what the Lord has said: My net will be stretched out over you, and I will take you up in my fishing-net.
4And I will throw thee out on the land, I will cast thee away into the open field and I will cause all the fowls of the air to dwell upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of all the earth with thee.
4And I have left thee in the land, On the face of the field I do cast thee out, And have caused to dwell upon thee every fowl of the heavens, And have satisfied out of thee the beasts of the whole earth.
4And I will let you be stretched on the land; I will send you out violently into the open field; I will let all the birds of heaven come to rest on you and will make the beasts of all the earth full of you.
5And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and will fill thy hills with thy corruption,
5And I have put thy flesh on the mountains, And filled the valleys <FI>with<Fi> thy hugeness,
5And I will put your flesh on the mountains, and make the valleys full of your blood.
6And I will water the earth with thy stinking blood upon the mountains, and the valleys shall be filled with thee.
6And watered the land with thy flowing, From thy blood--unto the mountains, And streams are filled from thee.
6And the land will be watered with your blood, and the waterways will be full of you.
7And I will cover the heavens, when thou shalt be put out, and I will make the stars thereof dark: I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
7And in quenching thee I have covered the heavens, And have made black their stars, The sun with a cloud I do cover, And the moon causeth not its light to shine.
7And when I put out your life, the heaven will be covered and its stars made dark; I will let the sun be covered with a cloud and the moon will not give her light.
8I will make all the lights of heaven to mourn over thee and I will cause darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord God, when thy wounded shall fall in the midst of the land, saith the Lord God.
8All luminaries of light in the heavens, I make black over thee, And I have given darkness over thy land, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah,
8All the bright lights of heaven I will make dark over you, and put dark night on your land, says the Lord.
9And I shall provoke to anger the heart of many people, when I shall have brought in thy destruction among the nations upon the lands, which thou knowest not.
9And I have vexed the heart of many peoples, In My bringing in thy destruction among nations, Unto lands that thou hast not known.
9And the hearts of numbers of peoples will be troubled, when I send your prisoners among the nations, into a country which is strange to you.
10And I will make many people to be amazed at thee, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for thee, when my sword shall begin to fly upon their faces: and they shall be astonished on a sudden, every one for his own life, in the day of their ruin.
10And I have made many peoples astonished at thee, And their kings are afraid at thee with trembling, In My brandishing My sword before their faces, And they have trembled every moment, Each for his life--in the day of thy fall.
10And I will make a number of peoples overcome with wonder at you, and their kings will be full of fear because of you, when my sword is waved before them: they will be shaking every minute, every man fearing for his life, in the day of your fall.
11For thus saith the Lord God: The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee,
11For thus said the Lord Jehovah: A sword of the king of Babylon entereth thee,
11For this is what the Lord has said: The sword of the king of Babylon will come on you.
12By the swords of the mighty I will overthrow thy multitude: all these nations are invincible: and they shall waste the pride of Egypt, and the multitude thereof shall be destroyed.
12By swords of the mighty I cause thy multitude to fall, The terrible of nations--all of them, And they have spoiled the excellency of Egypt, And destroyed hath been all her multitude.
12I will let the swords of the strong be the cause of the fall of your people; all of them men to be feared among the nations: and they will make waste the pride of Egypt, and all its people will come to destruction.
13I will destroy also all the beasts thereof that were beside the great waters: and the foot of man shall trouble them no more, neither shall the hoof of beasts trouble them.
13And I have destroyed all her beasts, From beside many waters, And trouble them not doth a foot of man any more, Yea, the hoofs of beasts trouble them not.
13And I will put an end to all her beasts which are by the great waters, and they will never again be troubled by the foot of man or by the feet of beasts.
14Then will I make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to run like oil, saith the Lord God:
14Then do I cause their waters to sink, And their rivers as oil I cause to go, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
14Then I will make their waters clear and their rivers will be flowing like oil, says the Lord.
15When I shall have made the land of Egypt desolate: and the land shall be destitute of her fulness, when I shall have struck all the inhabitants thereof and they shall know that I am the Lord.
15In My making the land of Egypt a desolation, And desolated hath been the land of its fulness, In My smiting all the inhabitants in it, And they have known that I <FI>am<Fi> Jehovah.
15When I make Egypt an unpeopled waste, cutting off from the land all the things in it; when I send punishment on all those living in it, then it will be clear to them that I am the Lord.
16This is the lamentation, and they shall lament therewith: the daughters of the nations shall lament therewith for Egypt, and for the multitude thereof they shall lament therewith, saith the Lord God.
16A lamentation it <FI>is<Fi> , and they have lamented her, Daughters of the nations do lament her, For Egypt, and for all her multitude, they lament her, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'
16It is a song of grief, and people will give voice to it, the daughters of the nations will give voice to it, even for Egypt and all her people, says the Lord.
17And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me saying:
17And it cometh to pass, in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been unto me, saying,
17And in the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
18Son of man, sing a mournful song for the multitude of Egypt: and cast her down, both her, and the daughters of the mighty nations to the lowest part of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
18`Son of man, Wail for the multitude of Egypt, And cause it to go down, It--and the daughters of honourable nations, Unto the earth--the lower parts, With those going down to the pit.
18Son of man, let your voice be loud in sorrow for the people of Egypt and send them down, even you and the daughters of the nations; I will send them down into the lowest parts of the earth, with those who go down into the underworld.
19Whom dost thou excel in beauty? go down and sleep with the uncircumcised.
19Than whom hast thou been more pleasant? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.
19Are you more beautiful than any? go down, and take your rest among those without circumcision,
20They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain with the sword: the sword is given, they have drawn her down, and all her people.
20In the midst of the pierced of the sword they fall, <FI>To<Fi> the sword she hath been given, They drew her out, and all her multitude.
20Among those who have been put to the sword: they will give a resting-place with them to all their people.
21The most mighty among the strong ones shall speak to him from the midst of hell, they that went down with his helpers and slept uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
21Speak to him do the gods of the mighty out of the midst of sheol, With his helpers--they have gone down, They have lain with the uncircumcised, The pierced of the sword.
21The strong among the great ones will say to him from the underworld, Are you more beautiful than any? go down, you and your helpers, and take your rest among those without circumcision, and those who have been put to the sword.
22Assur is there, and all his multitude: their graves are round about him, all of them slain, and that fell by the sword.
22There <FI>is<Fi> Asshur, and all her assembly, Round about him <FI>are<Fi> his graves, All of them <FI>are<Fi> wounded, who are falling by sword,
22There is Asshur and all her army, round about her last resting-place: all of them put to death by the sword:
23Whose graves are set in the lowest parts of the pit: and his multitude lay round about his grave: all of them slain, and fallen by the sword, they that heretofore spread terror in the land of the living.
23Whose graves are appointed in the sides of the pit, And her assembly is round about her grave, All of them wounded, falling by sword, Because they gave terror in the land of the living.
23Whose resting-places are in the inmost parts of the underworld, who were a cause of fear in the land of the living.
24There is Elam and all his multitude round about his grave, all of them slain, and fallen by the sword; that went down uncircumcised to the lowest parts of the earth: that caused their terror in the land of the living, and they have borne their shame with them that go down into the pit.
24There <FI>is<Fi> Elam, and all her multitude, Round about <FI>is<Fi> her grave, All of them wounded, who are falling by sword, Who have gone down uncircumcised unto the earth--the lower parts, Because they gave their terror in the land of the living, And they bear their shame with those going down to the pit.
24There is Elam and all her people, round about her last resting-place: all of them put to death by the sword, who have gone down without circumcision into the lowest parts of the earth, who were a cause of fear in the land of the living, and are put to shame with those who go down to the underworld:
25In the midst of the slain they have set him a bed among all his people: their graves are round about him: all these are uncircumcised, and slain by the sword: for they spread their terror in the land of the living, and have borne their shame with them that descend into the pit: they are laid in the midst of the slain.
25In the midst of the wounded they have appointed a bed for her with all her multitude, Round about him <FI>are<Fi> her graves, All of them uncircumcised, pierced of the sword, For their terror was given in the land of the living, And they bear their shame with those going down to the pit, In the midst of the pierced he hath been put.
25They have made a bed for her among the dead, and all her people are round about her resting-place: all of them without circumcision, put to death with the sword; for they were a cause of fear in the land of the living, and are put to shame with those who go down to the underworld: they have been given a place among those who have been put to the sword.
26There is Mosoch, and Thubal, and all their multitude: their graves are round about him: all of them uncircumcised and slain, and fallen by the sword: though they spread their terror in the land of the living.
26There <FI>is<Fi> Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude, Round about him <FI>are<Fi> her graves, All of them uncircumcised, pierced of the sword, For they gave their terror in the land of the living,
26There is Meshech, Tubal, and all her people, round about her last resting-place: all of them without circumcision, put to death by the sword; for they were a cause of fear in the land of the living.
27And they shall not sleep with the brave, and with them that fell uncircumcised, that went down to hell with their weapons, and laid their swords under their heads, and their iniquities were in their bones, because they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
27And they lie not with the mighty, Who are falling of the uncircumcised, Who have gone down to sheol with their weapons of war, And they put their swords under their heads, And their iniquities are on their bones, For the terror of the mighty <FI>is<Fi> in the land of the living.
27And they have been put to rest with the fighting men who came to their end in days long past, who went down to the underworld with their instruments of war, placing their swords under their heads, and their body-covers are over their bones; for their strength was a cause of fear in the land of the living.
28So thou also shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt sleep with them that are slain by the sword.
28And thou, in the midst of the uncircumcised art broken, And dost lie with the pierced of the sword.
28But you will have your bed among those without circumcision, and will be put to rest with those who have been put to death with the sword.
29There is Edom, and her kings, and all her princes, who with their army are joined with them that are slain by the sword: and have slept with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down into the pit.
29There <FI>is<Fi> Edom, her kings, and all her princes, Who have been given up in their might, With the pierced of the sword, They with the uncircumcised do lie, And with those going down to the pit.
29There is Edom, her kings and all her princes, who have been given a resting-place with those who were put to the sword: they will be resting among those without circumcision, even with those who go down to the underworld.
30There are all the princes of the north, and all the hunters: who were brought down with the slain, fearing, and confounded in their strength: who slept uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword, and have borne their shame with them that go down into the pit.
30There <FI>are<Fi> princes of the north, All of them, and every Zidonian, Who have gone down with the pierced in their terror, Of their might they are ashamed, And they lie uncircumcised with the pierced of the sword, And they bear their shame with those going down to the pit.
30There are the chiefs of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, who have gone down with those who have been put to the sword: they are shamed on account of all the fear caused by their strength; they are resting there without circumcision, among those who have been put to the sword, and are put to shame with those who go down to the underworld.
31Pharao saw them, and he was comforted concerning all his multitude, which was slain by the sword: Pharao, and all his army, saith the Lord God:
31Then doth Pharaoh see, And he hath been comforted for all his multitude, The pierced of the sword--Pharaoh and all his force, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.
31Pharaoh will see them and be comforted on account of all his people: even Pharaoh and all his army, put to death by the sword, says the Lord.
32Because I have spread my terror in the land of the living, and he hath slept in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain by the sword: Pharao and all his multitude, saith the Lord God.
32For I have given his terror in the land of the living, And he hath been laid down in the midst of the uncircumcised, With the pierced of the sword--Pharaoh, and all his multitude, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'
32For he put his fear in the land of the living: and he will be put to rest among those without circumcision, with those who have been put to death with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his people, says the Lord.
