Ezekiel 10

1Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was over the head of the cherubim there appeared above them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

1Then I looked and saw something like a throne made of sapphire stone in the dome-shaped space above the heads of the cherubim.

2And he spake unto the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the whirling wheels, even under the cherub, and fill both thy hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.

2The Lord spoke to the man dressed in linen and said, "Go in between the spinning wheels underneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from between the cherubim and scatter them over the city." And I watched him go in.

3Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.

3When the man went in, the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple, and a cloud filled the inner courtyard.

4And the glory of Jehovah mounted up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of Jehovah’s glory.

4Then the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubim and moved to the entrance of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud, and the courtyard was bright with the glory of the Lord.

5And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaketh.

5The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far away as the outer courtyard. It sounded like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.

6And it came to pass, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim, that he went in, and stood beside a wheel.

6When the Lord commanded the man dressed in linen to take fire from between the spinning wheels and the cherubim, the man went and stood beside one of the wheels.

7And the cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed in linen, who took it and went out.

7One of the cherubim reached out his hand to the fire that was between them. He took some of the coals and put them into the hands of the man dressed in linen, who took them and left.

8And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings.

8Under the wings of the cherubim, something that looked like a human hand could be seen.

9And I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and another wheel beside another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like unto a beryl stone.

9I looked and saw four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub. The wheels sparkled like chrysolite.

10And as for their appearance, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been within a wheel.

10All four wheels looked the same, and they were constructed as if one wheel were inside another wheel.

11When they went, they went in their four directions: they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.

11When they moved, they could go in any of the four directions without turning; they followed whichever way the head was facing without turning as they went.

12And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.

12Their entire bodies—including their backs, hands, and wings—and the four wheels were completely covered with eyes.

13As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing the whirling wheels.

13In my hearing, the wheels were called "the spinning wheels."

14And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

14Each cherub had four faces: the first was the face of a cherub, the second was the face of a human, the third was the face of a lion, and the fourth was the face of an eagle.

15And the cherubim mounted up: this is the living creature that I saw by the river Chebar.

15Then the cherubim rose upward. These were the same living creatures I had seen by any Chebar River.

16And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels also turned not from beside them.

16When the cherubim moved, the wheels beside them moved. When the cherubim spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels stayed right beside them.

17When they stood, these stood; and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.

17When the cherubim stopped, the wheels stopped. When the cherubim rose up, the wheels rose with them because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.

18And the glory of Jehovah went forth from over the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim.

18Then the glory of the Lord moved away from the entrance of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.

19And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went forth, and the wheels beside them: and they stood at the door of the east gate of Jehovah’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

19As I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground. As they moved out, the wheels stayed beside them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord’s temple, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.

20This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim.

20I realized these were the same living creatures I had seen under the God of Israel by the Chebar River, and I knew they were cherubim.

21Every one had four faces, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.

21Each one had four faces and four wings, and what looked like human hands were under their wings.

22And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves; they went every one straight forward.

22Their faces looked just like the faces I had seen by the Chebar River. Each one moved straight ahead.
