What Esther 2:22 means
Mordecai relays the plot to Esther, and she informs the king, explicitly naming Mordecai as the source. Her action both saves the king and publicly credits her cousin. This establishes a record of Mordecai’s loyalty, a detail that will later alter his fortunes. Esther serves as mediator between the Jewish guardian and the Persian ruler, using her access for the king’s good. The chain of trust—Mordecai to Esther to Ahasuerus—models wise cooperation. The queen’s advocacy underscores that influence is given for service. Even before she risks her life in a later chapter, she begins by speaking truth at the right time.

Context
The plot thickens into action. Mordecai’s discovery (verse 21) moves through Esther to the king. This arrangement preserves Mordecai’s safety and secures royal acknowledgment for him. The next verse will confirm the plot, execute the conspirators, and, most significantly, record the event in the royal chronicles—a note that will become central in a later turning point.
v.21In those days, while Mordecai was sitting in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those that kept the threshold, were wroth, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.

v.23And when inquisition was made of the matter, and it was found to be so, they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
