4even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love:

4according as he has chosen us in him before [the] world's foundation, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love;

4As he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unspotted in his sight in charity.

5having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

5having marked us out beforehand for adoption through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

5Who hath predestinated us unto the adoption of children through Jesus Christ unto himself: according to the purpose of his will:

6to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved:

6to [the] praise of [the] glory of his grace, wherein he has taken us into favour in the Beloved:

6Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us, in his beloved son.

7in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

7in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of offences, according to the riches of his grace;

7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his, grace,

8which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

8which he has caused to abound towards us in all wisdom and intelligence,

8Which hath superabounded in us, in all wisdom and prudence,

9making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him

9having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself

9That he might make known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he hath purposed in him,

10unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say,

10for [the] administration of the fulness of times; to head up all things in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things upon the earth; in him,

10In the dispensation of the fulness of times, to re-establish all things in Christ, that are in heaven and on earth, in him.

11in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will;

11In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will.

12to the end that we should be unto the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:

12that we should be to [the] praise of his glory who have pre-trusted in the Christ:

12That we may be unto the praise of his glory: we who before hoped in Christ:

13in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,—in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

13in whom ye also [have trusted], having heard the word of the truth, the glad tidings of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ye have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

13In whom you also, after you had heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation), in whom also believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise.

14who is [the] earnest of our inheritance to the redemption of the acquired possession to [the] praise of his glory.

14Who is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the redemption of acquisition, unto the praise of his glory.

15For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which ye show toward all the saints,

15Wherefore I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which [is] in you, and the love which [ye have] towards all the saints,

15Wherefore, I also, hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus and of your love towards all the saints,

16cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
