2 Timothy 3

1Know also this, that in the last days shall come dangerous times.

1And this know thou, that in the last days there shall come perilous times,

2Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked,

2for men shall be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, evil-speakers, to parents disobedient, unthankful, unkind,

3Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness,

3without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, not lovers of those who are good,

4Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasure more than of God:

4traitors, heady, lofty, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,

5Having an appearance indeed of godliness but denying the power thereof. Now these avoid.

5having a form of piety, and its power having denied; and from these be turning away,

6For of these sort are they who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, who are led away with divers desires:

6for of these there are those coming into the houses and leading captive the silly women, laden with sins, led away with desires manifold,

7Ever learning, and never attaining to the knowledge of the truth.

7always learning, and never to a knowledge of truth able to come,

8Now as Jannes and Mambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.

8and, even as Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, so also these do stand against the truth, men corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith;

9But they shall proceed no farther: for their folly shall be manifest to all men, as theirs also was.

9but they shall not advance any further, for their folly shall be manifest to all, as theirs also did become.

10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,

10And thou--thou hast followed after my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, love, endurance,

11Persecutions, afflictions: such as came upon me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra: what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord delivered me.

11the persecutions, the afflictions, that befell me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of all the Lord did deliver me,

12And all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

12and all also who will to live piously in Christ Jesus shall be persecuted,

13But evil men and seducers shall grow worse and worse: erring, and driving into error,

13and evil men and impostors shall advance to the worse, leading astray and being led astray.

14But continue thou in those things which thou hast learned and which have been committed to thee. Knowing of whom thou hast learned them:

14And thou--be remaining in the things which thou didst learn and wast entrusted with, having known from whom thou didst learn,

15And because from thy infancy thou hast known the holy scriptures which can instruct thee to salvation by the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

15and because from a babe the Holy Writings thou hast known, which are able to make thee wise--to salvation, through faith that <FI>is<Fi> in Christ Jesus;

16All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice:

16every Writing <FI>is<Fi> God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that <FI>is<Fi> in righteousness,

17That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.

17that the man of God may be fitted--for every good work having been completed.
