1In those days Hezekiah was ill and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, The Lord says, Put your house in order, for your death is near.

1In those days hath Hezekiah been sick unto death, and come unto him doth Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah: Give a charge to thy house, for thou art dying, and dost not live.'

2Then, turning his face to the wall, he made his prayer to the Lord, saying,

2And he turneth round his face unto the wall, and prayeth unto Jehovah, saying,

3O Lord, keep in mind how I have been true to you with all my heart, and have done what is good in your eyes. And Hezekiah gave way to bitter weeping.

3`I pray Thee, O Jehovah, remember, I pray Thee, how I have walked habitually before Thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and that which <FI>is<Fi> good in Thine eyes I have done;' and Hezekiah weepeth--a great weeping.

4Now before Isaiah had gone out of the middle of the town, the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

4And it cometh to pass--Isaiah hath not gone out to the middle court--that the word of Jehovah hath been unto him, saying,

5Go back and say to Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, The Lord, the God of David your father, says, Your prayer has come to my ears, and I have seen your weeping; see, I will make you well: on the third day you will go up to the house of the Lord.

5`Turn back, and thou hast said unto Hezekiah, leader of My people: Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I give healing to thee, on the third day thou dost go up to the house of Jehovah;

6I will give you fifteen more years of life; and I will keep you and this town safe from the hands of the king of Assyria; I will keep this town safe, for my honour, and for the honour of my servant David.

6and I have added to thy days fifteen years, and out of the hand of the king of Asshur I deliver thee and this city, and have covered over this city for Mine own sake, and for the sake of David My servant.'

7Then Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. So they took it and put it on his wound, and he got better.

7And Isaiah saith, `Take ye a cake of figs;' and they take and lay <FI>it<Fi> on the boil, and he reviveth.

8And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What is to be the sign that the Lord will make me well, and that I will go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?

8And Hezekiah saith unto Isaiah, `What <FI>is<Fi> the sign that Jehovah doth give healing to me, that I have gone up on the third day to the house of Jehovah?'

9And Isaiah said, This is the sign the Lord will give you, that he will do what he has said; will the shade go forward ten degrees or back?

9And Isaiah saith, `This <FI>is<Fi> to thee the sign from Jehovah, that Jehovah doth the thing that He hath spoken--The shadow hath gone on ten degrees, or it doth turn back ten degrees?'

10And Hezekiah said in answer, It is a simple thing for the shade to go forward; but let it go back ten degrees.

10And Hezekiah saith, `It hath been light for the shadow to incline ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow turn backward ten degrees.'

11Then Isaiah the prophet made prayer to the Lord, and he made the shade go back ten degrees from its position on the steps of Ahaz.

11And Isaiah the prophet calleth unto Jehovah, and He bringeth back the shadow by the degrees that it had gone down in the degrees of Ahaz--backward ten degrees.

12At that time, Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters with an offering to Hezekiah, because he had news that Hezekiah had been ill.

12At that time hath Berodach-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick;

13And Hezekiah was glad at their coming and let them see all his store of wealth, the silver and the gold and the spices and the oil of great price, and the house of his arms, and everything there was in his stores; there was nothing in all his house or his kingdom which Hezekiah did not let them see.

13and Hezekiah hearkeneth unto them, and sheweth them all the house of his treasury, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the good ointment, and all the house of his vessels, and all that hath been found in his treasuries; there hath not been a thing that Hezekiah hath not shewed them, in his house, and in all his dominion.

14Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, What did these men say and where did they come from? And Hezekiah said, They came from a far country, even from Babylon.

14And Isaiah the prophet cometh in unto king Hezekiah, and saith unto him, `What said these men? and whence come they unto thee?' And Hezekiah saith, `From a land afar off they have come--from Babylon.'

15And he said, What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiah said in answer, They saw everything in my house: there is nothing among my stores which I did not let them see.

15And he saith, `What saw they in thy house?' and Hezekiah saith, `All that <FI>is<Fi> in my house they saw; there hath not been a thing that I have not shewed them among my treasures.'

16And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Give ear to the word of the Lord.

16And Isaiah saith unto Hezekiah, `Hear a word of Jehovah:

17Truly, days are coming when everything in your house, and whatever your fathers have put in store till this day, will be taken away to Babylon: all will be gone, says the Lord.

17Lo, days are coming, and borne hath been all that <FI>is<Fi> in thy house, and that thy father have treasured up till this day, to Babylon; there is not left a thing, said Jehovah;

18And your sons, the offspring of your body, they will take away to be unsexed servants in the house of the king of Babylon.

18and of thy sons who go out from thee, whom thou begettest, they take away, and they have been eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.'

19Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which you have said. Then he said, ... if in my time there is peace and righteousness?

19And Hezekiah saith unto Isaiah, `Good <FI>is<Fi> the word of Jehovah that thou hast spoken;' and he saith, `Is it not--if peace and truth are in my days?'

20Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his power, and how he made the pool and the stream, to take water into the town, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Judah?

20And the rest of the matters of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and bringeth in the waters to the city, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

21And Hezekiah went to rest with his fathers; and Manasseh his son became king in his place.

21And Hezekiah lieth with his fathers, and reign doth Manasseh his son in his stead.
