2 Corinthians 4

1For this reason, because we have been made servants of this new order, through the mercy given to us, we are strong:

1Because of this, having this ministration, according as we did receive kindness, we do not faint,

1Therefore seeing we have this ministration, according as we have obtained mercy, we faint not.

2And we have given up the secret things of shame, not walking in false ways, and not making use of the word of God with deceit; but by the revelation of what is true, as before God, we have the approval of every man's sense of right and wrong.

2but did renounce for ourselves the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor deceitfully using the word of God, but by the manifestation of the truth recommending ourselves unto every conscience of men, before God;

2But we renounce the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness nor adulterating the word of God: but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience, in the sight of God.

3But if our good news is veiled, it is veiled from those who are on the way to destruction:

3and if also our good news is vailed, in those perishing it is vailed,

3And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost,

4Because the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them.

4in whom the god of this age did blind the minds of the unbelieving, that there doth not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God;

4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

5For our preaching is not about ourselves, but about Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants through Jesus.

5for not ourselves do we preach, but Christ Jesus--Lord, and ourselves your servants because of Jesus;

5For we preach not ourselves, but Jesus Christ our Lord: and ourselves your servants through Jesus.

6Seeing that it is God who said, Let light be shining out of the dark, who has put in our hearts the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

6because <FI>it is<Fi> God who said, Out of darkness light <FI>is<Fi> to shine, who did shine in our hearts, for the enlightening of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, in the face of Christ Jesus.

7But we have this wealth in vessels of earth, so that it may be seen that the power comes not from us but from God;

7And we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us;

8Troubles are round us on every side, but we are not shut in; things are hard for us, but we see a way out of them;

8on every side being in tribulation, but not straitened; perplexed, but not in despair;

8In all things we suffer tribulation: but are not distressed. We are straitened: but are not destitute.

9We are cruelly attacked, but not without hope; we are made low, but we are not without help;

9persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

9We suffer persecution: but are not forsaken. We are cast down: but we perish not.

10In our bodies there is ever the mark of the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be seen in our bodies.

10at all times the dying of the Lord Jesus bearing about in the body, that the life also of Jesus in our body may be manifested,

10Always bearing about in our body the mortification of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our bodies.

11For, while living, we are still being given up to death because of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be seen in our flesh, though it is under the power of death.

11for always are we who are living delivered up to death because of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our dying flesh,

11For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake: that the life also of Jesus may be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

12So then, death is working in us, but life in you.

12so that, the death indeed in us doth work, and the life in you.

12So then death worketh in us: but life in you.

13But having the same spirit of faith, as it is said in the Writings, The words of my mouth came from the faith in my heart; in the same way, our words are the outcome of our faith;

13And having the same spirit of the faith, according to that which hath been written, `I believed, therefore I did speak;' we also do believe, therefore also do we speak;

13But having the same spirit of faith, as it is written: I believed, for which cause I have spoken; we also believe. For which cause we speak also:

14Because we are certain that he who made the Lord Jesus come back from the dead, will do the same for us, and will give us a place in his glory with you.

14knowing that He who did raise up the Lord Jesus, us also through Jesus shall raise up, and shall present with you,

14Knowing that he who raised up Jesus will raise us up also with Jesus and place us with you.

15For we go through all things on account of you, because the greater the number to whom the grace is given, the greater is the praise to the glory of God.

15for the all things <FI>are<Fi> because of you, that the grace having been multiplied, because of the thanksgiving of the more, may abound to the glory of God;

15For all things are for your sakes: that the grace, abounding through many, may abound in thanksgiving unto the glory of God.

16For which cause we do not give way to weariness; but though our outer man is getting feebler, our inner man is made new day by day.

16wherefore, we faint not, but if also our outward man doth decay, yet the inward is renewed day by day;

16For which cause we faint not: but though our outward man is corrupted, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17For our present trouble, which is only for a short time, is working out for us a much greater weight of glory;

17for the momentary light matter of our tribulation, more and more exceedingly an age-during weight of glory doth work out for us--

17For that which is at present momentary and light of our tribulation worketh for us above measure, exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.

18While our minds are not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are for a time; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

18we not looking to the things seen, but to the things not seen; for the things seen <FI>are<Fi> temporary, but the things not seen <FI>are<Fi> age-during.

18While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal: but the things which are not seen, are eternal.
