1But the Spirit says clearly that in later times some will be turned away from the faith, giving their minds to spirits of deceit, and the teachings of evil spirits,
1And the Spirit expressly speaketh, that in latter times shall certain fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons,
1But the Spirit speaks expressly, that in latter times some shall apostatise from the faith, giving their mind to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons
2Through the false ways of men whose words are untrue, whose hearts are burned as with a heated iron;
2in hypocrisy speaking lies, being seared in their own conscience,
2speaking lies in hypocrisy, cauterised as to their own conscience,
3Who keep men from being married and from taking food which God made to be taken with praise by those who have faith and true knowledge.
3forbidding to marry--to abstain from meats that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those believing and acknowledging the truth,
3forbidding to marry, [bidding] to abstain from meats, whichGod has created for receiving with thanksgiving for them who are faithful and know the truth.
4Because everything which God has made is good, and nothing is evil, if it is taken with praise:
4because every creature of God <FI>is<Fi> good, and nothing <FI>is<Fi> to be rejected, with thanksgiving being received,
4For every creature ofGod [is] good, and nothing [is] to be rejected, being received with thanksgiving;
5For it is made holy by the word of God and by prayer.
5for it is sanctified through the word of God and intercession.
5for it is sanctified byGod's word and freely addressing [him].
6If you keep these things before the minds of the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, trained in the words of the faith and of the right teaching which has been your guide:
6These things placing before the brethren, thou shalt be a good ministrant of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of the faith, and of the good teaching, which thou didst follow after,
6Laying these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished with the words of the faith and of the good teaching which thou hast fully followed up.
7But have nothing to do with unclean and foolish stories. Give yourself training in religion:
7and the profane and old women's fables reject thou, and exercise thyself unto piety,
7But profane and old wives' fables avoid, but exercise thyself unto piety;
8For the training of the body is of profit for a little, but religion is of profit in every way, giving hope for the life which now is, and for that which is to come.
8for the bodily exercise is unto little profit, and the piety is to all things profitable, a promise having of the life that now is, and of that which is coming;
8for bodily exercise is profitable for a little, but piety is profitable for everything, having promise of life, of the present one, and of that to come.
9This is a true saying, in which all may put their faith.
9stedfast <FI>is<Fi> the word, and of all acceptation worthy;
9The word [is] faithful and worthy of all acceptation;
10And this is the purpose of all our work and our fighting, because our hope is in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, and specially of those who have faith.
10for for this we both labour and are reproached, because we hope on the living God, who is Saviour of all men--especially of those believing.
10for, for this we labour and suffer reproach, because we hope in a livingGod, who is preserver of all men, specially of those that believe.
11Let these be your orders and your teaching.
11Charge these things, and teach;
11Enjoin and teach these things.
12Let no one make little of you because you are young, but be an example to the church in word, in behaviour, in love, in faith, in holy living.
12let no one despise thy youth, but a pattern become thou of those believing in word, in behaviour, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity;
12Let no one despise thy youth, but be a model of the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
13Till I come, give attention to the reading of the holy Writings, to comforting the saints, and to teaching.
13till I come, give heed to the reading, to the exhortation, to the teaching;
13Till I come, give thyself to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
14Make use of that grace in you, which was given to you by the word of the prophets, when the rulers of the church put their hands on you.
14be not careless of the gift in thee, that was given thee through prophecy, with laying on of the hands of the eldership;
14Be not negligent of the gift [that is] in thee, which has been given to thee through prophecy, with imposition of the hands of the elderhood.
15Have a care for these things; give yourself to them with all your heart, so that all may see how you go forward.
15of these things be careful; in these things be, that thy advancement may be manifest in all things;
15Occupy thyself with these things; be wholly in them, that thy progress may be manifest to all.
16Give attention to yourself and your teaching. Go on in these things; for in doing so you will get salvation for yourself and for those who give hearing to you.
16take heed to thyself, and to the teaching; remain in them, for this thing doing, both thyself thou shalt save, and those hearing thee.
16Give heed to thyself and to the teaching; continue in them; for, doing this, thou shalt save both thyself and those that hear thee.
