1 Kings 7

1Solomon was thirteen years building a house for himself till it was complete.

1And Solomon built his own house in thirteen years, and brought it to perfection.

1And his own house hath Solomon built thirteen years, and he finisheth all his house.

2And he made the house of the Woods of Lebanon, which was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high, resting on four lines of cedar-wood pillars with cedar-wood supports on the pillars.

2He built also the house of the forest of Libanus; the length of it was a hundred cubits, and the breadth fifty cubits, and the height thirty cubits: and four galleries between pillars of cedar: for he had cut cedar trees into pillars.

2And he buildeth the house of the forest of Lebanon; a hundred cubits <FI>is<Fi> its length, and fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height, on four rows of cedar pillars, and cedar-beams on the pillars;

3And it was covered with cedar over the forty-five supports which were on the pillars, fifteen in a line.

3And he covered the whole vault with boards of cedar, and it was held up with five and forty pillars. And one row had fifteen pillars,

3and <FI>it is<Fi> covered with cedar above, on the sides that <FI>are<Fi> on the forty and five pillars, fifteen in the row.

4There were three lines of window-frames, window facing window in every line.

4Set one against another,

4And windows <FI>are<Fi> in three rows, and sight <FI>is<Fi> over-against sight three times.

5And all the doors and windows had square frames, with the windows facing one another in three lines.

5And looking one upon another, with equal space between the pillars, and over the pillars were square beams in all things equal.

5And all the openings and the side-posts <FI>are<Fi> square--windows; and sight <FI>is<Fi> over-against sight three times.

6And he made a covered room of pillars, fifty cubits long and thirty cubits wide, and ... with steps before it.

6And he made a porch of pillars of fifty cubits in length, and thirty cubits in breadth: and another porch before the greater porch, and pillars, and chapiters upon the pillars.

6And the porch of the pillars he hath made; fifty cubits its length, and thirty cubits its breadth, and the porch <FI>is<Fi> before them, and pillars and a thick place <FI>are<Fi> before them.

7Then he made a covered room for his high seat when he gave decisions; this was the covered room of judging; it was covered with cedar-wood from floor to roof.

7He made also the porch of the throne wherein is the seat of judgment; and covered it with cedar wood from the floor to the top.

7And the porch of the throne where he judgeth--the porch of judgment--he hath made, and <FI>it is<Fi> covered with cedar from the floor unto the floor.

8And the house for his living-place, the other open square in the covered room, was made in the same way. And then he made a house like it for Pharaoh's daughter, whom Solomon had taken as his wife.

8And in the midst of the porch, was a small house, where he sat in judgment of the like work. He made also a house for the daughter of Pharao (whom Solomon had taken to wife) of the same work, as this porch;

8As to his house where he dwelleth, the other court <FI>is<Fi> within the porch--as this work it hath been; and a house he maketh for the daughter of Pharaoh--whom Solomon hath taken--like this porch.

9All these buildings were made, inside and out, from base to crowning stone, and outside to the great walled square, of highly priced stone, cut to different sizes with cutting-instruments.

9All of costly stones, which were sawed by a certain rule and measure, both within and without: from the foundation to the top of the walls, and without, unto the great court.

9All these <FI>are<Fi> of precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, sawn with a saw, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and at the outside, unto the great court.

10And the base was of great masses of highly priced stone, some ten cubits and some eight cubits square.

10And the foundations were of costly stones, great stones of ten cubits or eight cubits.

10And the foundation <FI>is<Fi> of precious stone, great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits;

11Overhead were highly priced stones cut to measure, and cedar-wood.

11And above there were costly stones of equal measure hewed, and in like manner planks of cedar.

11and above <FI>are<Fi> precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, and cedar;

12The great outer square all round was walled with three lines of squared stones and a line of cedar-wood boards, round about the open square inside the house of the Lord and the covered room of the king's house.

12And the great court was made round with three rows of hewed stones, and one row of planks of cedar, which also was observed in the inner court of the house of the Lord, and in the porch of the house.

12and the great court round about <FI>is<Fi> three rows of hewn work, and a row of cedar-beams, even for the inner court of the house of Jehovah, and for the porch of the house.

13Then King Solomon sent and got Hiram from Tyre.

13And king Solomon sent, and brought Hiram from Tyre,

13And king Solomon sendeth and taketh Hiram out of Tyre--

14He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass; he was full of wisdom and knowledge and an expert worker in brass. He came to King Solomon and did all his work for him.

14The son of a widow woman, of the tribe of Nephthali, whose father was a Tyrian, an artificer in brass, and full of wisdom, and understanding, and skill to work all work in brass. And when he was come to king Solomon, he wrought all his work.

14he <FI>is<Fi> son of a woman, a widow, of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father a man of Tyre, a worker in brass, and he is filled with the wisdom and the understanding, and the knowledge to do all work in brass--and he cometh unto king Solomon, and doth all his work.

15He it was who made the two brass pillars; the first pillar was eighteen cubits high, and a line of twelve cubits went round it; and the second was the same.

15And he cast two pillars in brass, each pillar was eighteen cubits high: and a line of twelve cubits compassed both the pillars.

15And he formeth the two pillars of brass; eighteen cubits <FI>is<Fi> the height of the one pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits doth compass the second pillar.

16And he made the two crowns to be put on the tops of the pillars, of brass made soft in the fire; the crowns were five cubits high.

16He made also two chapiters of molten brass, to be set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits:

16And two chapiters he hath made to put on the tops of the pillars, cast in brass; five cubits the height of the one chapiter, and five cubits the height of the second chapiter.

17There were nets of open-work for the crowns on the tops of the pillars, a net of open-work for one and a net of open-work for the other.

17And a kind of network, and chain work wreathed together with wonderful art. Both the chapiters of the pillars were cast: seven rows of nets were on one chapiter, and seven nets on the other chapiter.

17Nets of net-work, wreaths of chain-work <FI>are<Fi> for the chapiters that <FI>are<Fi> on the top of the pillars, seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the second chapiter.

18And he made ornaments of apples; and two lines of apples all round over the network, covering the crowns of the pillars, the two crowns in the same way.

18And he made the pillars, and two rows round about each network to cover the chapiters, that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and in like manner did he to the other chapiter.

18And he maketh the pillars, and two rows round about on the one net-work, to cover the chapiters that <FI>are<Fi> on the top, with the pomegranates, and so he hath made for the second chapiter.

19The crowns on the tops of the pillars were ornamented with a design of flowers, and were four cubits across.

19And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars, were of lily work, in the porch of four cubits.

19And the chapiters that <FI>are<Fi> on the top of the pillars <FI>are<Fi> of lily-work in the porch, four cubits;

20And there were crowns on the two pillars near the round part by the network, and there were two hundred apples in lines round every crown.

20And again there were other chapiters on the top of the pillars above, according to the measure of the pillar over against the network: and of pomegranates there were two hundred, in rows round about the other chapiter.

20and the chapiters on the two pillars also above, over-against the protuberance that <FI>is<Fi> beside the net; and the pomegranates <FI>are<Fi> two hundred, in rows round about on the second chapiter.

21He put up the pillars at the doorway of the Temple, naming the one on the right Jachin, and that on the left Boaz.

21And he set up the two pillars in the porch of the temple: and when he had set up the pillar on the right hand, he called the name thereof Jachin: in like manner he set up the second pillar, and called the name thereof Booz.

21And he raiseth up the pillars for the porch of the temple, and he raiseth up the right pillar, and calleth its name Jachin, and he raiseth up the left pillar, and calleth its name Boaz;

22The tops of the pillars had a design of flowers; and the work of making the pillars was complete.

22And upon the tops of the pillars he made lily work: so the work of the pillars was finished.

22and on the top of the pillars <FI>is<Fi> lily-work; and the work of the pillars <FI>is<Fi> completed.

23And he made a great metal water-vessel ten cubits across from edge to edge, five cubits high and thirty cubits round.

23He made also a molten sea, of ten cubits, from brim to brim, round all about; the height of it was five cubits, and a line of thirty cubits compassed it round about.

23And he maketh the molten sea, ten by the cubit from its edge unto its edge; <FI>it is<Fi> round all about, and five by the cubit <FI>is<Fi> its height, and a line of thirty by the cubit doth compass it round about;

24And under the edge of it, circling it all round for ten cubits, were two lines of flower buds, made together with it from liquid metal.

24And a graven work, under the brim of it, compassed it for ten cubits going about the sea: there were two rows cast of chamfered sculptures.

24and knops beneath its brim round about are compassing it, ten by the cubit, going round the sea round about; in two rows <FI>are<Fi> the knops, cast in its being cast.

25It was supported on twelve oxen, with their back parts turned to the middle of it, three of them facing to the north, three to the west, three to the south, and three to the east; the vessel was resting on top of them.

25And it stood upon twelve oxen, of which three looked towards the north, and three towards the west, and three towards the south, and three towards the east: and the sea was above upon them, and their hinder parts were all hid within.

25It is standing on twelve oxen, three facing the north, and three facing the west, and three facing the south, and three facing the east, and the sea <FI>is<Fi> upon them above, and all their hinder parts <FI>are<Fi> inward.

26It was as thick as a man's open hand, and was curved like the edge of a cup, like the flower of a lily: it would take two thousand baths.

26And the laver was a hand breadth thick: and the brim thereof was like the brim of a cup, or the leaf of a crisped lily: it contained two thousand bates.

26And its thickness <FI>is<Fi> an handbreadth, and its edge as the work of the edge of a cup, flowers of lilies; two thousand baths it containeth.

27And he made ten wheeled bases of brass; every one four cubits long, four cubits wide, and three cubits high.

27And he made ten bases of brass, every base was four cubits in length, and four cubits in breadth, and three cubits high.

27And he maketh the ten bases of brass; four by the cubit <FI>is<Fi> the length of the one base, and four by the cubit its breadth, and three by the cubit its height.

28And the bases were made in this way; their sides were square, fixed in a framework;

28And the work itself of the bases, was intergraven: and there were gravings between the joinings.

28And this <FI>is<Fi> the work of the base: they have borders, and the borders <FI>are<Fi> between the joinings;

29And on the square sides between the frames were lions, oxen, and winged ones; and the same on the frame; and over and under the lions and the oxen and the winged ones were steps.

29And between the little crowns and the ledges, were lions, and oxen, and cherubims; and in the joinings likewise above: and under the lions and oxen, as it were bands of brass hanging down.

29and on the borders that <FI>are<Fi> between the joinings <FI>are<Fi> lions, oxen, and cherubs, and on the joinings a base above, and beneath the lions and the oxen <FI>are<Fi> additions--sloping work.

30Every base had four wheels of brass, turning on brass rods, and their four angles had angle-plates under them; the angle-plates under the base were of metal, and there were ornaments at the side of every one.

30And every base had four wheels, and axletrees of brass: and at the four sides were undersetters, under the laver molten, looking one against another.

30And four wheels of brass <FI>are<Fi> to the one base, and axles of brass; and its four corners have shoulders--under the laver <FI>are<Fi> the molten shoulders, beside each addition.

31The mouth of it inside the angle-plate was one cubit across; it was round like a pillar, a cubit and a half across; it had designs cut on it; the sides were square, not round.

31The mouth also of the laver within, was in the top of the chapiter: and that which appeared without, was of one cubit all round, and together it was one cubit and a half: and in the corners of the pillars were divers engravings: and the spaces between the pillars were square, not round.

31And its mouth within the chapiter and above <FI>is<Fi> by the cubit, and its mouth <FI>is<Fi> round, the work of the base, a cubit and half a cubit; and also on its mouth <FI>are<Fi> carvings and their borders, square, not round.

32The four wheels were under the frames, and the rods on which the wheels were fixed were in the base; the wheels were a cubit and a half high.

32And the four wheels, which were at the four corners of the base, were joined one to another under the base: the height of a wheel was a cubit and a half.

32And the four wheels <FI>are<Fi> under the borders, and the spokes of the wheels <FI>are<Fi> in the base, and the height of the one wheel <FI>is<Fi> a cubit and half a cubit.

33The wheels were made like carriage-wheels, the rods on which they were fixed, the parts forming their edges, their rods and the middle points of them, were all formed out of liquid metal.

33And they were such wheels as are used to be made in a chariot: and their axletrees, and spokes, and strakes, and naves, were all cast.

33And the work of the wheels <FI>is<Fi> as the work of the wheel of a chariot, their spokes, and their axles, and their felloes, and their naves; the whole <FI>is<Fi> molten.

34And there were four angle-plates at the four angles of every base, forming part of the structure of the base.

34And the four undersetters, that were at every corner of each base, were of the base itself, cast and joined together.

34And four shoulders <FI>are<Fi> unto the four corners of the one base; out of the base <FI>are<Fi> its shoulders.

35And at the top of the base there was a round vessel, half a cubit high;

35And on the top of the base, there was a round compass of half a cubit, so wrought that the laver might be set thereon, having its gravings, and divers sculptures of itself.

35And in the top of the base <FI>is<Fi> the half of a cubit in the height all round about; and on the top of the base its spokes and its borders <FI>are<Fi> of the same.

36In the spaces of the flat sides and on the frames of them, he made designs of winged ones, lions, and palm-trees, with ornamented edges all round.

36He engraved also in those plates, which were of brass, and in the corners, cherubims, and lions, and palm trees, in likeness of a man standing, so that they seemed not to be engraven, but added round about.

36And he openeth on the tablets of its spokes, and on its borders, cherubs, lions, and palm-trees, according to the void space of each, and additions round about.

37All the ten bases were made in this way, after the same design, of the same size and form.

37After this manner, he made ten bases, of one casting and measure, and the like graving.

37Thus he hath made the ten bases; one casting, one measure, one form, have they all.

38And he made ten brass washing-vessels, everyone taking forty baths, and measuring four cubits; one vessel was placed on every one of the ten bases.

38He made also ten lavers of brass: one laver contained four bates, and was of four cubits: and upon every base, in all ten, he put as many lavers.

38And he maketh ten lavers of brass; forty baths doth the one laver contain, four by the cubit <FI>is<Fi> the one laver, one laver on the one base <FI>is<Fi> to the ten bases;

39And he put the bases by the house, five on the right side and five on the left; and he put the great water-vessel on the right side of the house, to the east, facing south.

39And he set the ten bases, five on the right side of the temple, and five on the left: and the sea he put on the right side of the temple, over against the east southward.

39and he putteth the five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house, and the sea he hath put on the right side of the house, eastward--over-against the south.

40And Hiram made the pots and spades and the basins. So Hiram came to the end of all the work he did for King Solomon in the house of the Lord:

40And Hiram made cauldrons, and shovels, and basins, and finished all the work of king Solomon in the temple of the Lord.

40And Hiram maketh the lavers, and the shovels, and the bowls; and Hiram completeth to do all the work that he made for king Solomon, <FI>for<Fi> the house of Jehovah;

41The two pillars and the two cups of the crowns which were on the tops of the two pillars; and the network covering the two cups of the crowns on the tops of the pillars,

41The two pillars and the two cords of the chapiters, upon the chapiters of the pillars: and the two networks, to cover the two cords, that were upon the top of the pillars.

41pillars two, and bowls of the chapiters that <FI>are<Fi> on the top of the pillars two, and the nets two, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that <FI>are<Fi> on the top of the pillars;

42And the four hundred apples for the network, two lines of apples for every network, covering the two cups of the crowns on the pillars;

42And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks: two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the cords of the chapiters, which were upon the tops of the pillars.

42and the pomegranates four hundred for the two nets, two rows of pomegranates for the one net, to cover the two bowls of the chapiters that <FI>are<Fi> on the front of the pillars;

43And the ten bases, with the ten washing-vessels on them;

43And the ten bases, and the ten lavers on the bases.

43and the ten bases, and the ten lavers on the bases;

44And the great water-vessel, with the twelve oxen under it;

44And one sea, and twelve oxen under the sea.

44and the one sea, the twelve oxen under the sea,

45And the pots and the spades and the basins; all the vessels which Hiram made for King Solomon, for the house of the Lord, were of polished brass.

45And the cauldrons, and the shovels, and the basins. All the vessels that Hiram made for king Solomon, for the house of the Lord, were of fine brass.

45and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls; and all these vessels, that Hiram hath made to king Solomon <FI>for<Fi> the house of Jehovah, <FI>are<Fi> of brass--polished.

46He made them of liquid metal in the lowland of Jordan, at the way across the river, at Adama, between Succoth and Zarethan.

46In the plains of the Jordan, did the king cast them in a clay ground, between Socoth and Sartham.

46In the circuit of the Jordan hath the king cast them, in the thick soil of the ground, between Succoth and Zarthan.

47The weight of all these vessels was not measured, because there was such a number of them; it was not possible to get the weight of the brass.

47And Solomon placed all the vessels: but for its exceeding great multitude the brass could not be weighed.

47And Solomon placeth the whole of the vessels; because of the very great abundance, the weight of the brass hath not been searched out.

48And Solomon had all the vessels made for use in the house of the Lord: the altar of gold and the gold table on which the holy bread was placed;

48And Solomon made all the vessels for the house of the Lord: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, upon which the loaves of proposition should be set:

48And Solomon maketh all the vessels that <FI>are<Fi> in the house of Jehovah: the altar of gold, and the table--on which <FI>is<Fi> the bread of the Presence--of gold,

49And the supports for the lights, five on the right side and five on the left before the inmost room, of clear gold; and the flowers and the lights and all the instruments of gold;

49And the golden candlesticks, five on the right hand, and five on the left, over against the oracle, of pure gold: and the flowers like lilies, and the lamps over them of gold: and golden snuffers,

49and the candlesticks, five on the right, and five on the left, before the oracle, of refined gold, and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold,

50And the cups and the scissors and the basins and the spoons and the fire-trays, all of gold; and the pins on which the doors were turned, the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and the doors of the Temple, all of gold.

50And pots, and fleshhooks, and bowls, and mortars, and censers, of most pure gold: and the hinges for the doors of the inner house of the holy of holies, and for the doors of the house of the temple, were of gold.

50and the basins, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the censers, of refined gold, and the hinges for the doors of the inner-house, for the holy of holies, for the doors of the house of the temple, of gold.

51So all the work King Solomon had done in the house of the Lord was complete. Then Solomon took the holy things which David his father had given, the silver and the gold and all the vessels, and put them in the store-houses of the house of the Lord.

51And Solomon finished all the work that he made in the house of the Lord, and brought in the things that David, his father, had dedicated, the silver and the gold, and the vessels, and laid them up in the treasures of the house of the Lord.

51And it is complete--all the work that king Solomon hath made <FI>for<Fi> the house of Jehovah, and Solomon bringeth in the sanctified things of David his father; the silver, and the gold, and the vessels he hath put in the treasuries of the house of Jehovah.
