1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not in loftiness of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of Christ.
1And I, when I came to you, brethren, came not in excellency of word, or wisdom, announcing to you the testimony ofGod.
1And I, having come unto you, brethren, came--not in superiority of discourse or wisdom--declaring to you the testimony of God,
2For I judged not myself to know anything among you, but Jesus Christ: and him crucified.
2For I did not judge [it well] to know anything among you save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
2for I decided not to know any thing among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified;
3And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling.
3And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling;
3and I, in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling, was with you;
4And my speech and my preaching was not in the persuasive words of human wisdom. but in shewing of the Spirit and power:
4and my word and my preaching, not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of [the] Spirit and of power;
4and my word and my preaching was not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power--
5That your faith might not stand on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.
5that your faith might not stand in men's wisdom, but inGod's power.
5that your faith may not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
6Howbeit we speak wisdom among the perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, neither of the princes of this world that come to nought.
6But we speak wisdom among the perfect; but wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who come to nought.
6And wisdom we speak among the perfect, and wisdom not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age--of those becoming useless,
7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, a wisdom which is hidden, which God ordained before the world, unto our glory:
7But we speakGod's wisdom in [a] mystery, that hidden [wisdom] whichGod had predetermined before the ages for our glory:
7but we speak the hidden wisdom of God in a secret, that God foreordained before the ages to our glory,
8Which none of the princes of this world knew. For if they had known it, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory.
8which none of the princes of this age knew, (for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;)
8which no one of the rulers of this age did know, for if they had known, the Lord of the glory they would not have crucified;
9But, as it is written: That eye hath not seen, nor ear heard: neither hath it entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for them that love him.
9but according as it is written, Things which eye has not seen, and ear not heard, and which have not come into man's heart, whichGod has prepared for them that love him,
9but, according as it hath been written, `What eye did not see, and ear did not hear, and upon the heart of man came not up, what God did prepare for those loving Him--'
10But to us God hath revealed them by his Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
10butGod has revealed to us by [his] Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths ofGod.
10but to us did God reveal <FI>them<Fi> through His Spirit, for the Spirit all things doth search, even the depths of God,
11For what man knoweth the things of a man, but the spirit of a man that is in him? So the things also that are of God, no man knoweth, but the Spirit of God.
11For who of men hath known the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? thus also the things ofGod knows no one except the Spirit ofGod.
11for who of men hath known the things of the man, except the spirit of the man that <FI>is<Fi> in him? so also the things of God no one hath known, except the Spirit of God.
12Now, we have received not the spirit of this world, but the Spirit that is of God: that we may know the things that are given us from God.
12But we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which [is] ofGod, that we may know the things which have been freely given to us ofGod:
12And we the spirit of the world did not receive, but the Spirit that <FI>is<Fi> of God, that we may know the things conferred by God on us,
13Which things also we speak: not in the learned words of human wisdom, but in the doctrine of the Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
13which also we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, communicating spiritual [things] by spiritual [means].
13which things also we speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Holy Spirit, with spiritual things spiritual things comparing,
14But the sensual man perceiveth not these things that are of the Spirit of God. For it is foolishness to him: and he cannot understand, because it is spiritually examined.
14But [the] natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit ofGod, for they are folly to him; and he cannot know [them] because they are spiritually discerned;
14and the natural man doth not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for to him they are foolishness, and he is not able to know <FI>them<Fi> , because spiritually they are discerned;
15But the spiritual man judgeth all things: and he himself is judged of no man.
15but the spiritual discerns all things, and he is discerned of no one.
15and he who is spiritual, doth discern indeed all things, and he himself is by no one discerned;
16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
16For who has known the mind of [the] Lord, who shall instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
16for who did know the mind of the Lord that he shall instruct Him? and we--we have the mind of Christ.
