1 Chronicles 27

1And [these] are the children of Israel after their number, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in every matter of the divisions, which came in and went out month by month throughout the months of the year; in every division were twenty-four thousand.

1And the sons of Israel, after their number, heads of the fathers, and princes of the thousands and of the hundreds, and their officers, those serving the king in any matter of the courses, that are coming in and going out month by month, throughout all months of the year--<FI> are<Fi> in each course twenty and four thousand.

1Now the children of Israel according to their number, the heads of families, captains of thousands and of hundreds, and officers, that served the king according to their companies, who came in and went out every month in the year, under every chief were four and twenty thousand.

2Over the first division for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

2Over the first course, for the first month, <FI>is<Fi> Jashobeam son of Zabdiel, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand;

2Over the first company the first month Jesboam, the son of Zabdiel was chief, and under him were four and twenty thousand.

3He was of the children of Pherez, the head of all the captains of the hosts for the first month.

3of the sons of Perez <FI>is<Fi> the head of all princes of the hosts for the first month.

3Of the sons of Phares, the chief of all the captains in the host in the first month.

4And over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite; and in his division was Mikloth ruler; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

4And over the course of the second month <FI>is<Fi> Dodai the Ahohite, and his course, and Mikloth <FI>is<Fi> the president, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

4The company of the second month was under Dudia, an Ahohite, and after him was another named Macelloth, who commanded a part of the army of four and twenty thousand.

5The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah (the son of Jehoiada, a principal officer): [he was] head; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

5Head of the third host, for the third month, <FI>is<Fi> Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the head priest, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

5And the captain of the third company for the third month, was Banaias the son of Joiada the priest: and in his division were four and twenty thousand.

6This Benaiah was a mighty man among the thirty, and above the thirty; and in his division was Ammizabad his son.

6This Benaiah <FI>is<Fi> a mighty one of the thirty, and over the thirty, and <FI>in<Fi> his course <FI>is<Fi> Ammizabad his son.

6This is that Banaias the most valiant among the thirty, and above the thirty. And Amizabad his son commanded his company.

7The fourth for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

7The fourth, for the fourth month, <FI>is<Fi> Asahel brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

7The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zabadias his son after him: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

8The fifth for the fifth month was the captain Shamhuth the Jizrahite; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

8The fifth, for the fifth month, <FI>is<Fi> the prince Shamhuth the Izrahite, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

8The fifth captain for the fifth month, was Samaoth a Jezerite: and his company were four and twenty thousand.

9The sixth for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

9The sixth, for the sixth month, <FI>is<Fi> Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

9The sixth, for the sixth month, was Hira the son of Acces a Thecuite: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

10The seventh for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

10The seventh, for the seventh month, <FI>is<Fi> Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

10The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helles a Phallonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

11The eighth for the eighth month was Sibbechai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

11The eighth, for the eighth month, <FI>is<Fi> Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhite, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

11The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sobochai a Husathite of the race of Zarahi: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

12The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjaminites; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

12The ninth, for the ninth month, <FI>is<Fi> Abiezer the Antothite, of the Benjamite, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

12The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer an Anathothite of the sons of Jemini, and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

13The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

13The tenth, for the tenth month, <FI>is<Fi> Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhite, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

13The tenth, for the tenth month, was Marai, who was a Netophathite of the race of Zarai: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

14The eleventh for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

14Eleventh, for the eleventh month, <FI>is<Fi> Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the sons of Ephraim, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

14The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Banaias, a Pharathonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

15The twelfth for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel; and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

15The twelfth, for the twelfth month, <FI>is<Fi> Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel, and on his course <FI>are<Fi> twenty and four thousand.

15The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Holdai a Netophathite, of the race of Gothoniel: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

16And over the tribes of Israel were: for the Reubenites Eliezer the son of Zichri was the prince; for the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah;

16And over the tribes of Israel: Of the Reubenite, a leader <FI>is<Fi> Eliezer son of Zichri; of the Simeonite, Shephatiah son of Maachah;

16Now the chiefs over the tribes of Israel were these: over the Rubenites, Eliezer the son of Zechri was ruler: over the Simeonites, Saphatias the son of Maacha:

17for the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; for Aaron, Zadok;

17of the Levite, Hashabiah son of Kemuel; of the Aaronite, Zadok;

17Over the Levites, Hasabias the son of Camuel: over the Aaronites, Sadoc:

18for Judah, Elihu of the brethren of David; for Issachar, Omri the son of Michael;

18of Judah, Elihu, of the brethren of David; of Issachar, Omri son of Michael;

18Over Juda, Eliu the brother of David over Issachar, Amri the son of Michael:

19for Zebulun, Jishmaiah the son of Obadiah; for Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel;

19of Zebulun, Ishmaiah son of Obadiah; of Naphtali, Jerimoth son of Azriel;

19Over the Zabulonites, Jesmaias the son of Adias: over the Nephtalites, Jerimoth the son of Ozriel:

20for the children of Ephraim, Hosea the son of Azaziah; for the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah;

20of the sons of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Azaziah; of the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Joel son of Pedaiah;

20Over the sons of Ephraim, Osee the son of Ozaziu: over the half tribe of Manasses, Joel the son of Phadaia:

21for the half [tribe] of Manasseh in Gilead, Jiddo the son of Zechariah; for Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner;

21of the half of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel son of Abner; of Dan, Azareel son of Jeroham:

21And over the half tribe of Manasses in Galaad, Jaddo the son of Zacharias: and over Benjamin, Jasiel the son of Abner.

22for Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel.

22these <FI>are<Fi> heads of the tribes of Israel.

22And over Dan, Ezrihel the son of Jeroham: these were the princes of the children of Israel.

23And David took not their number from twenty years old and under; for Jehovah had said he would increase Israel as the stars of heaven.

23And David hath not taken up their number from a son of twenty years and under, for Jehovah said to multiply Israel as the stars of the heavens.

23But David would not number them from twenty years old and under: because the lord had said that he would multiply Israel like the stars of heaven.

24Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he did not finish; and there fell wrath for it upon Israel; and the number was not put in the account of the chronicles of king David.

24Joab son of Zeruiah hath begun to number--and hath not finished--and there is for this wrath against Israel, and the number hath not gone up in the account of the Chronicles of king David.

24Joab the son of Sarvia began to number, but he finished not: because upon this there fell wrath upon Israel: and therefore the number of them that were numbered, was not registered in the chronicles of king David.

25And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel; and over the storehouses in the country, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers was Jonathan the son of Uzziah.

25And over the treasures of the king <FI>is<Fi> Azmaveth son of Adiel; and over the treasures in the field, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, <FI>is<Fi> Jehonathan son of Uzziah;

25And over the king's treasures was Azmoth the son of Adiel: and over those stores which were in the cities, and in the villages, and, in the castles, was Jonathan the son of Ozias.

26And over them that worked in the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub.

26and over workmen of the field for the service of the ground <FI>is<Fi> Ezri son of Chelub;

26And over the tillage, and the husbandmen, who tilled the ground, was Ezri the son of Chelub:

27And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; and over what was in the vineyards of stores of wine was Zabdi the Shiphmite:

27and over the vineyards <FI>is<Fi> Shimei the Ramathite; and over what <FI>is<Fi> in the vineyards for the treasures of wine <FI>is<Fi> Zabdi the Shiphmite;

27And over the dressers of the vine yards, was Semeias a Romathite: and over the wine cellars, Zabdias an Aphonite.

28and over the olive-trees and the sycamore-trees that were in the lowland was Baal-hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash.

28and over the olives, and the sycamores, that <FI>are<Fi> in the low country, <FI>is<Fi> Baal-Hanan the Gederite; and over the treasures of oil <FI>is<Fi> Joash;

28And over the oliveyards and the fig groves, which were in the plains, was Balanam a Gederite: and over the oil cellars, Joas.

29And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite; and over the herds in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai.

29and over the herds that are feeding in Sharon <FI>is<Fi> Shitrai the Sharonite; and over the herds in the valleys <FI>is<Fi> Shaphat son of Adlai;

29And over the herds that fed in Saron, was Setrai a Saronite: and over the oxen in the valleys, Saphat the son of Adli:

30And over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the asses was Jehdiah the Meronothite.

30and over the camels <FI>is<Fi> Obil the Ishmeelite; and over the asses <FI>is<Fi> Jehdeiah the Meronothite;

30And over the camels, Ubil an Ishmahelite and over the asses, Jadias a Meronathite:

31And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagarite. All these were comptrollers of the substance which was king David's.

31and over the flock <FI>is<Fi> Jaziz the Hagerite; all these <FI>are<Fi> heads of the substance that king David hath.

31And over the sheep Jaziz an Agarene. All these were the rulers of the substance of king David.

32And Jonathan, David's uncle, was counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons;

32And Jonathan, uncle of David, <FI>is<Fi> counsellor, a man of understanding, he is also a scribe; and Jehiel son of Hachmoni <FI>is<Fi> with the sons of the king;

32And Jonathan David's uncle, a counsellor, a wise and learned man: he and Jahiel the son of Hachamoni were with the king's sons.

33and Ahithophel was the king's counsellor; and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend;

33and Ahithophel <FI>is<Fi> counsellor to the king; and Hushai the Archite <FI>is<Fi> the friend of the king;

33And Achitophel was the king's counsellor, and Chusai the Arachite, the king's friend.

34and after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar; and Joab was captain of the king's army.

34and after Ahithophel <FI>is<Fi> Jehoiada son of Benaiah, and Abiathar; and the head of the host of the king <FI>is<Fi> Joab.

34And after Achitophel was Joiada the son of Banaias, and Abiathar. And the general of the king's army was Joab.
