1 Chronicles 24

1And to the sons of Aaron <FI>are<Fi> their courses: sons of Aaron <FI>are<Fi> Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar,

1And the courses of the sons of Aaron were these. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

2and Nadab dieth, and Abihu, in the presence of their father, and they had no sons, and Eleazar and Ithamar act as priests.

2But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.

3And David distributeth them, and Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their office in their service;

3And David with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their ordering in their service.

4and there are found of the sons of Eleazar more for heads of the mighty men than of the sons of Ithamar; and they distribute them: Of the sons of Eleazar, heads for a house of fathers, sixteen; and of the sons of Ithamar, for a house of their fathers, eight.

4And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided: of the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen, heads of fathers’ houses; and of the sons of Ithamar, according to their fathers’ houses, eight.

5And they distribute them, by lots, one with another, for princes of the sanctuary, and princes of God, have been of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.

5Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for there were princes of the sanctuary, and princes of God, both of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.

6And Shemaiah son of Nethaneel the scribe, of the Levites, writeth them before the king and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and heads of the fathers, for priests and for Levites: one house of a father being taken possession of for Eleazar, and one being taken possession of for Ithamar.

6And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, who was of the Levites, wrote them in the presence of the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the priests and of the Levites; one fathers’ house being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar.

7And the first lot goeth out for Jehoiarib, for Jedaiah the second,

7Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,

8for Harim the third, for Seorim the fourth,

8the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,

9for Malchijah the fifth, for Mijamin the sixth,

9the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,

10for Hakkoz the seventh, for Abijah the eighth,

10the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,

11for Jeshuah the ninth, for Shecaniah the tenth,

11the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,

12for Eliashib the eleventh, for Jakim the twelfth,

12the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,

13for Huppah the thirteenth, for Jeshebeab the fourteenth,

13the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,

14for Bilgah the fifteenth, for Immer the sixteenth,

14the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,

15for Hezir the seventeenth, for Aphses the eighteenth,

15the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,

16for Pethahiah the nineteenth, for Jehezekel the twentieth,

16the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,

17for Jachin the one and twentieth, for Gamul the two and twentieth,

17the one and twentieth to Jachin, the two and twentieth to Gamul,

18for Delaiah the three and twentieth, for Maaziah the four and twentieth.

18the three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah.

19These <FI>are<Fi> their appointments for their service, to come in to the house of Jehovah, according to their ordinance by the hand of Aaron their father, as Jehovah God of Israel, commanded them.

19This was the ordering of them in their service, to come into the house of Jehovah according to the ordinance given unto them by Aaron their father, as Jehovah, the God of Israel, had commanded him.

20And for the sons of Levi who are left: for sons of Amram, Shubael; for sons of Shubael: Jehdeiah.

20And of the rest of the sons of Levi: of the sons of Amram, Shubael; of the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.

21For Rehabiah: for sons of Rehabiah, the head Ishshiah.

21Of Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, Isshiah the chief.

22For the Izharite: Shelomoth; for sons of Shelomoth: Jahath.

22Of the Izharites, Shelomoth; of the sons of Shelomoth, Jahath.

23And sons of Jeriah: Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

23And the sonsof Hebron: Jeriahthe chief, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

24Sons of Uzziel: Michah; for sons of Michah: Shamir.

25A brother of Michah <FI>is<Fi> Ishshiah; for sons of Ishshiah: Zechariah;

25The brother of Micah, Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah.

26sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; sons of Jaaziah: Beno;

26The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Jaaziah: Beno.

27sons of Merari: of Jaaziah: Beno, and Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.

27The sons of Merari: of Jaaziah, Beno, and Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.

28For Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons;

28Of Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.

29for Kish: sons of Kish: Jerahmeel.

29Of Kish; the sons of Kish: Jerahmeel.

30And sons of Mushi <FI>are<Fi> Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth; these <FI>are<Fi> sons of the Levites, for the house of their fathers,

30And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after their fathers’ houses.

31and they cast, they also, lots over-against their brethren the sons of Aaron, before David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and heads of the fathers, for priests and for Levites; the chief father over-against his younger brother.

31These likewise cast lots even as their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the priests and of the Levites; the fathers’ houses of the chief even as those of his younger brother.
