1 Chronicles 2

1These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun,

3The sons of Judah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah; which three were born unto him of Shua’s daughter the Canaanitess. And Er, Judah’s first-born, was wicked in the sight of Jehovah; and he slew him.

3Judah had three sons by a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua: Er, Onan, and Shelah. But Er, Judah’s oldest son, was evil in the Lord’s sight, so the Lord took his life.

4And Tamar his daughter-in-law bare him Perez and Zerah. All the sons of Judah were five.

4Judah also had twin sons, Perez and Zerah, by his daughter-in-law Tamar. So Judah had five sons in all.

5The sons of Perez: Hezron, and Hamul.

6And the sons of Zerah: Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara; five of them in all.

7And the sons of Carmi: Achar, the troubler of Israel, who committed a trespass in the devoted thing.

10And Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, prince of the children of Judah;

11and Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz,

12and Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse;

13and Jesse begat his first-born Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimea the third,

14Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth,

15Ozem the sixth, David the seventh;

15his sixth was Ozem, and his seventh was David.

16and their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the sons of Zeruiah: Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three.

17And Abigail bare Amasa; and the father of Amasa was Jether the Ishmaelite.

18And Caleb the son of Hezron begat children of Azubah his wife, and of Jerioth; and these were her sons: Jesher, and Shobab, and Ardon.

18Caleb son of Hezron had children with his wife Azubah and with Jerioth. Azubah’s sons were Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.

19And Azubah died, and Caleb took unto him Ephrath, who bare him Hur.

19After Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, and she gave birth to Hur.

20And Hur begat Uri, and Uri begat Bezalel.

20Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.

21And afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he tookto wifewhen he was threescore years old; and she bare him Segub.

21Later, when Hezron was sixty years old, he married the daughter of Machir, the father of Gilead. She gave birth to Segub.

22And Segub begat Jair, who had three and twenty cities in the land of Gilead.

22Segub was the father of Jair, who controlled twenty-three towns in the land of Gilead.

23And Geshur and Aram took the towns of Jair from them, with Kenath, and the villages thereof, even threescore cities. All these were the sons of Machir the father of Gilead.

23But Geshur and Aram captured the towns of Jair, along with Kenath and its surrounding villages—sixty towns in all. All these were descendants of Machir, the father of Gilead.

24And after that Hezron was dead in Caleb-ephrathah, then Abijah Hezron’s wife bare him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

24After Hezron died in Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah gave birth to Ashhur, who became the father of Tekoa.

25And the sons of Jerahmeel the first-born of Hezron were Ram the first-born, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem, Ahijah.

26And Jerahmeel had another wife, whose name was Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.

29And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abihail; and she bare him Ahban, and Molid.

30And the sons of Nadab: Seled, and Appaim; but Seled died without children.

31And the sons of Appaim: Ishi. And the sons of Ishi: Sheshan. And the sons of Sheshan: Ahlai.

31The son of Appaim was Ishi, the father of Sheshan. Sheshan was the father of Ahlai.

32And the sons of Jada the brother of Shammai: Jether, and Jonathan; and Jether died without children.

32The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother, were Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without having any children.

33And the sons of Jonathan: Peleth, and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.

34Now Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. And Sheshan had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarha.

35And Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant to wife; and she bare him Attai.

35Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she gave birth to Attai.

36And Attai begat Nathan, and Nathan begat Zabad,

36Attai was the father of Nathan, and Nathan was the father of Zabad.

37and Zabad begat Ephlal, and Ephlal begat Obed,

37Zabad was the father of Ephlal, and Ephlal was the father of Obed.

38and Obed begat Jehu, and Jehu begat Azariah,

39and Azariah begat Helez, and Helez begat Eleasah,

39Azariah was the father of Helez, and Helez was the father of Eleasah.

40and Eleasah begat Sismai, and Sismai begat Shallum,

40Eleasah was the father of Sismai, and Sismai was the father of Shallum.

41and Shallum begat Jekamiah, and Jekamiah begat Elishama.

41Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.

42And the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel were Mesha his first-born, who was the father of Ziph; and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron.

42The sons of Caleb, the brother of Jerahmeel, were Mesha (his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph) and his son Mareshah (the father of Hebron).

43And the sons of Hebron: Korah, and Tappuah, and Rekem, and Shema.

43The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.

44And Shema begat Raham, the father of Jorkeam; and Rekem begat Shammai.

44Shema was the father of Raham, who was the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai.

45And the son of Shammai was Maon; and Maon was the father of Beth-zur.

45The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the founder of Beth-zur.

46And Ephah, Caleb’s concubine, bare Haran, and Moza, and Gazez; and Haran begat Gazez.

46Caleb’s concubine Ephah gave birth to Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.

47And the sons of Jahdai: Regem, and Jothan, and Geshan, and Pelet, and Ephah, and Shaaph.

47The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.

48Maacah, Caleb’s concubine, bare Sheber and Tirhanah.

48Caleb’s concubine Maacah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.

49She bare also Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbena, and the father of Gibea; and the daughter of Caleb was Achsah.

49She also gave birth to Shaaph the father of Madmannah, and Sheva the father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Achsah.

50These were the sons of Caleb, the son of Hur, the first-born of Ephrathah: Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim,

51Salma the father of Beth-lehem, Hareph the father of Beth-gader.

52And Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim had sons: Haroeh, half of the Menuhoth.

53And the families of Kiriath-jearim: The Ithrites, and the Puthites, and the Shumathites, and the Mishraites; of them came the Zorathites and the Eshtaolites.

53and the clans of Kiriath-jearim: the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. From these came the people of Zorah and Eshtaol.

54The sons of Salma: Beth-lehem, and the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, and half of the Manahathites, the Zorites.

54The descendants of Salma were Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, half of the Manahathites, and the Zorites.

55And the families of scribes that dwelt at Jabez: the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, the Sucathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
