1And David made houses for himself in the town of David; and he got ready a place for the ark of God, and put up a tent for it.
1He made also houses for himself in the city of David: and built a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tabernacle for it.
1And he maketh for himself houses in the city of David, and prepareth a place for the ark of God, and stretcheth out for it a tent.
2Then David said, The ark of God may not be moved by any but the Levites, for they have been marked out by God to take the ark of God, and to do his work for ever.
2Then David said: No one ought to carry the ark of God, but the Levites, whom the Lord hath chosen to carry it, and to minister unto himself for ever.
2Then said David, `None <FI>are<Fi> to carry the ark of God, except the Levites, for on them hath Jehovah fixed to carry the ark of God, and to serve Him--unto the age.'
3And David made all Israel come together at Jerusalem, to take the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had got ready for it.
3And he gathered all Israel together into Jerusalem, that the ark of God might be brought into its place, which he had prepared for it.
3And David assembleth all Israel unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Jehovah unto its place that he had prepared for it.
4And David got together the sons of Aaron, and the Levites;
4And the sons of Aaron also, and the Levites.
4And David gathereth the sons of Aaron, and the Levites.
5Of the sons of Kohath: Uriel the chief, and his brothers, a hundred and twenty;
5Of the children of Caath, Uriel was the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty.
5Of sons of Kohath: Uriel the chief, and his brethren, a hundred and twenty.
6Of the sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief, and his brothers, two hundred and twenty;
6Of the sons of Merari, Asaia the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty.
6Of sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief, and his brethren, two hundred and twenty.
7Of the sons of Gershom: Joel the chief, and his brothers, a hundred and thirty;
7Of the sons of Gersom, Joel the chief, and his brethren a hundred and thirty.
7Of sons of Gershom: Joel the chief, and his brethren, a hundred and thirty.
8Of the sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers, two hundred;
8Of the sons of Elisaphan, Semeias the chief: and his brethren two hundred.
8Of sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief, and his brethren, two hundred.
9Of the sons of Hebron: Eliel the chief, and his brothers, eighty;
9Of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief: and his brethren eighty.
9Of sons of Hebron: Eliel the chief, and his brethren, eighty.
10Of the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief, and his brothers, a hundred and twelve.
10Of the sons of Oziel, Aminadab the chief: and his brethren a hundred and twelve.
10Of sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief, and his brethren, a hundred and twelve.
11And David sent for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, Uriel, Asaiah and Joel, Shemaiah and Eliel and Amminadab,
11And David called Sadoc, and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites, Uriel, Asaia, Joel, Semeia, Eliel, and Aminadab:
11And David calleth to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, and to the Levites, to Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,
12And said to them, You are the heads of the families of the Levites: make yourselves holy, you and your brothers, so that you may take the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place which I have made ready for it.
12And he said to them: You that are the heads of the Levitical families, be sanctified with your brethren, and bring the ark of the Lord the God of Israel to the place, which is prepared for it:
12and saith to them, `Ye <FI>are<Fi> heads of the fathers of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, ye and your brethren, and ye have brought up the ark of Jehovah, God of Israel, unto <FI>the place<Fi> I have prepared for it;
13For because you did not take it at the first, the Lord our God sent punishment on us, because we did not get directions from him in the right way.
13Lest as the Lord at first struck us, because you were not present, the same should now also come to pass, by our doing some thing against the law.
13because at the first <FI>it was<Fi> not ye, Jehovah our God made a breach upon us, because we sought Him not according to the ordinance.'
14So the priests and the Levites made themselves holy to take up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel.
14So the priests and the Levites were sanctified, to carry the ark of the Lord the God of Israel.
14And the priests and the Levites sanctify themselves, to bring up the ark of Jehovah, God of Israel;
15And the sons of the Levites took up the ark of God, lifting it by its rods, as the Lord had said to Moses.
15And the sons of Levi took the ark of God as Moses had commanded, according to the word of the Lord, upon their shoulders, with the staves.
15and sons of the Levites bear the ark of God, as Moses commanded, according to the word of Jehovah, on their shoulder, with staves, above them.
16And David gave orders to the chief of the Levites to put their brothers the music-makers in position, with instruments of music, corded instruments and brass, with glad voices making sounds of joy.
16And David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites, to appoint some of their brethren to be singers with musical instruments, to wit, on psalteries, and harps, and cymbals, that the joyful noise might resound on high.
16And David saith to the heads of the Levites to appoint their brethren the singers, with instruments of song, psalteries, and harps, and cymbals, sounding, to lift up with the voice for joy.
17So Heman, the son of Joel, and, of his brothers, Asaph, the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan, the son of Kushaiah, were put in position by the Levites;
17And they appointed Levites, Hemam the son of Joel, and of his brethren Asaph the son of Barachias: and of the sons of Merari, their brethren: Ethan the son of Casaia.
17And the Levites appoint Heman son of Joel, and of his brethren, Asaph son of Berechiah, and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan son of Kushaiah;
18And with them their brothers of the second order, Zechariah, Bani and Jaaziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni, Eliab and Benaiah and Maaseiah and Mattithiah and Eliphelehu and Mikneiah, and Obed-edom and Jeiel, the door-keepers.
18And with them their brethren: in the second rank, Zacharias, and Ben, and Jaziel, and Semiramoth, and Jahiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Banaias, and Maasias, and Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias, and Obededom, and Jehiel, the porters.
18and with them their brethren, the seconds <FI>in rank<Fi> , Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah; and Obed-Edom and Jeiel the gatekeepers;
19So those who made melody, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were put in position, with brass instruments, sounding loudly;
19Now the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, sounded with cymbals of brass.
19and the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, with cymbals of brass to sound,
20And Zechariah and Aziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel, Unni and Eliab and Maaseiah and Benaiah, with corded instruments put to Alamoth.
20And Zacharias, and Oziel, and Semiramoth, and Jehiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Maasias, and Banaias, sung mysteries upon psalteries.
20and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jeheil, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries besides virgins,
21And Mattithiah and Eliphelehu and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel and Azaziah, with corded instruments on the octave, to give the first note of the song.
21And Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias and Obededom, and Jehiel and Ozaziu, sung a song of victory for the octave upon harps.
21and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps, on the octave, to oversee.
22And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was master of the music: he gave directions about the song, because he was expert.
22And Chonenias chief of the Levites, presided over the prophecy, to give out the tunes: for he was very skilful.
22And Chenaniah, head of the Levites, <FI>is<Fi> over the burden; he instructeth about the burden, for he <FI>is<Fi> intelligent.
23And Berechiah and Elkanah were door-keepers for the ark.
23And Barachias, and Elcana, were doorkeepers of the ark.
23And Berechiah and Elkanah <FI>are<Fi> gatekeepers for the ark.
24And Shebaniah and Joshaphat and Nethanel and Amasai and Zechariah and Benaiah and Eliezer, the priests, made music on the horns before the ark of God; and Obed-edom and Jehiah were door-keepers for the ark.
24And Sebenias, and Josaphat, and Nathanael, and Amasai, and Zacharias, and Banaias, and Eliezer the priests, sounded with trumpets, before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehias were porters of the ark.
24And Shebaniah, and Joshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer the priests, are blowing with trumpets before the ark of God; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah <FI>are<Fi> gatekeepers for the ark.
25So David, and the responsible men of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went with joy to get the ark of the agreement of the Lord out of the house of Obed-edom.
25So David and all the ancients of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obededom with joy.
25And it is David, and the elders of Israel, and the heads of the thousands, who are going to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah from the house of Obed-Edom with joy;
26And when God gave help to the Levites who were lifting up the ark of the agreement of the Lord, they made an offering of seven oxen and seven sheep.
26And when God had helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they offered in sacrifice seven oxen, and seven rams.
26and it cometh to pass, in God's helping the Levites bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, that they sacrifice seven bullocks and seven rams.
27And David was clothed with a robe of fair linen, as were all the Levites who took up the ark, and those who made melody, and Chenaniah the master of those who made melody; and David had on a linen ephod;
27And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that carried the ark, and the singing men, and Chonenias the ruler of the prophecy among the singers: and David also had on him an ephod of linen.
27And David is wrapped in an upper robe of fine linen, and all the Levites who are bearing the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah head of the burden of the singers; and on David <FI>is<Fi> an Ephod of linen.
28So all Israel took up the ark of the agreement of the Lord, with loud cries and with horns and brass and corded instruments sounding loudly.
28And all Israel brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord with joyful shouting, and sounding with the sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and cymbals, and psalteries, and harps.
28And all Israel are bringing up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of a cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding with psalteries and harps,
29And when the ark of the agreement of the Lord came into the town of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looking out of the window, saw King David dancing and playing; and to her mind he seemed foolish.
29And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord was come to the city of David, Michol the daughter of Saul looking out at a window, saw king David dancing and playing, and she despised him in her heart.
29and it cometh to pass, the ark of the covenant of Jehovah is entering in unto the city of David, and Michal daughter of Saul is looking through the window, and seeth king David dancing and playing, and despiseth him in her heart.
